I don't remember all the specifics of your other posts, but if you need the carseats now or within the next few months, I think the Radian would be it for you. The Graco Nautilus is not here yet and we don't even know when or if it would be certified.

This is what I have been informed of in regards to the Graco Nautilus coming to Canada:

....about the Nautilus. Graco had summitted the test factors to Transport Canada, and TC has issued the CMVSS......however...at this time Graco has no intention (soon anyway) to distribute for Canadian use. There are so many 'turbo' seats in distribution already, that probably the concern is $$$. It will cost company a fortune to relabel everything in French language and to resubmit the instruction manuals for reprinting (to French). I guess they'll just see how the market goes with their other products first.

So lets start bugging Graco to bring the Nautilus to Canada!

I've read your other posts but don't recall the reason you were wanting to replace your current seats. :o

The BEST seat is one that fits your child, fits your vehicle and will be used correctly each and every time. Since both your kids fit their seats properly right now, and from what I've seen in pictures and what you've posted, they seem to fit, you don't have to actually buy new seats right now if you want to wait a little while.

I know none of us are fans of the 3in1's around here, but the truth is that it's a seat you have already, fits your ds and installs well in your truck. Replacing it because you want to is fine, but there's no safety issue that means it needs to be replaced (so far as I've gathered from your posts anyways.)

I seem to remember you mentioning that you didn't like the knob adjusters on the generations though.. a few of us have emailed Graco asking about the Nautilus. If it'll be here in the next 5 or 6 mos it's really up to you as to whether you want to wait for it or not. The advantage to it is that you'll be paying for a seat that does only the functions you need, as opposed to one that has a mode you won't ever use with your dd and that doesn't convert to a booster.... given that the Nautilus is high enough to make a full booster until kiddo passes the 5 step test, it's good value in that aspect.

One option, would be to buy 1 radian now and use it for your dd. It would give you a chance to see how it installs and how you like using it before committing to 2 of them. It would also give you a seat your dd could use for a good long while & you'd be able to quit using the generations. Then you'd have your main concern dealt with, and could wait to see if the nautilus shows up - I'm guessing your youngest still has at least 6mos left in the AO rf'ing since he's 29" long, if not much longer. In general the AO makes a good rf'ing seat because of it's tall shell. If he hit 30lbs in the near future, he's still fit the AO ff'ing for a little bit, so you should be able to go at least 6mos before buying a 2nd seat.

So that's what I'd do... get 1 seat for your dd right now if you're wanting to quit using those knobs asap, and plan to hand it down to your ds, and then wait and see what shows up over the next 6mos.

yes, I DO hate the knobs on dd seat LOL but I can live with it for now I was going to get her the radian for 1. to keep her harnessed longer 2, then my mom could have the generations in her van so I didn't have to keep taking it out of my truck.

I think I have decided to wait with ds seat let him out grow it (which dd did before she was 2 yrs!) but she was 31" at 12 months old so they are growing diffrently that's for sure.
I really wonder when the new graco will be here:question: generally how long does it take to get in Canada after the US gets it?

but thank you for your input!!:D it's not an easy decision

IF the seat is going to come to Canada, it generally appears to show up a year later... I'm thinking/remembering specifically the Triumph and Radian with this theory.

Well, we know the Nautilus has already been certified to CMVSS standards & that TC has issued Graco the letter authorizing them to market it in Canada. Apparently it's an issue of them thinking it's too expensive at the moment to market the seat in Canada due to re-labeling and french in the manual. :shrug-shoulders:

Lots of us have emailed graco though asking them to bring the seat quicker. There's a couple threads around here with their email address in it and I think about half a dozen or so of us have emailed them already.

So I'm hoping for 6months or less. Wishful thinking? Maybe... but it's possible. All they have to do is decide to sell it in Canada and get the stickers/manuals worked out. With them having already gone through the approval process, they must be planning to market it here, it's just a matter of when.

eta: The Triumph Advance will be in stores here about 7 to 8mos after it became available in the US if TRU/BRU receives it when expected. I know the Red Deer store was expecting some in the beginning of January when I called them over Christmas. And yet in June they told me they hadn't even decided to test it/market it in Canada yet... so if a manufacturer wants to do it quickly, I think it's possible. ;)

This was exactly the case for the Triumph and it still took them a year to bring it up here and that was after Sears had already printed it up in their catalogues as selling it. :(

I'm hoping the Nautilus comes sooner, especially with the e-mails they're getting, but at the same time I don't want to get my hopes up too high, kwim?

I getting my hopes up too, I know I shouldn't though. Maybe I should just get dd the radian in the grey cover (she will not be impressed that it's not the pink one!) and pass it on to ds later? the thing is he will most likely be out grown of his AO before the new graco gets here..... man this is frustrating!
