View Full Version : RF in Roundabout?

So, I just bought a Britax RA because, after reading the specs on the Britax web site, I thought I could use it rear-facing to 33 lbs and 40". Now (after the box has been discarded and we're getting ready to install it -- argh) I notice on my Canadian label that the seat is only rated to 30 lbs and 30". So I was wondering: Are the seats different in Canada and the US, or only the labels?

Should I (can I) keep my son rear-facing until 33 lbs in this seat? Actually, it is not so much the weight I am concerned about (he's pretty skinny and only 20 lbs now) but the height, since at 11 months he is already almost 30". As long as I am within the weight limits, can I use the seat RF until his head comes within an inch of the shell top? Other guidelines? I want to keep him RF as long as possible, of course, so any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help -- I am going to continue reading to find the answer to this, but I am getting so very, very confused and we need to get him out of his infant seat very soon.

You can only use your Roundabout rf until 30lbs. Height is a guideline. As long as the weight limit hasn't been reached and his head isn't even with the top of the shell then he should be ok. Here (http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?p=278124#post278124) it shows how to tell when a rf seat is outgrown.

Have you used your Roundabout yet? Would it be possible for you to return it and get a Marathon instead  The Marathon would give him more room height wise both rf and ff.

I would return it for a Marathon if you can. The weight is definite, but not the height. My dd just outgrew her RA rfing at 21 months, 24 pounds, and 33 inches. She has a Marathon in our main car and I'm not sure what I'm doing in the other. I really don't want to forward face her when she's only 24 pounds, even if it's only sometimes. The RA is a nice seat, but if I had of known the MA would fit I would have bought one of those instead.
