Our 2nd car seat for dh's car is a Touriva, and dh drives an '02 Chevy Lumina car. We tried installing the seat in the middle but the latch part of the belt ends up inside the seat where it's actually sticking up and poking her in the butt. The seat belts and latches in the back seat of this car don't come up between the bottom and top of the seats. Instead, they are located about 4-6" out from the back of the seat so I think that's why we're having this problem. The seat is definitely tight but very uncomfortable for her to use. We've got it installed on the passenger side for now but it's kind of tilted because of the way the edge of the seat rounds up. Is there any way to remedy this so we can install it in the middle. And she is rf'ing if it matters. I hope this makes sense.

Ah, GM and their forward of the bight seatbelts- good for adults, bad for carseats. :(

Did you try twisting the buckle stalk? You can twist the nylon webbing that connects the female end of the seatbelt to the frame of the vehicle. Up to three full twists are allowed. That may help move the buckle out of the beltpath.
