Canadian Forum CHAT Session - Dec. 18, 2007

I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to a Canadian and International Issues Forum sponsored chat event, next Tuesday, December the 18th, 2007. To navigate to the chat, click the "Chat Room" option along the options bar at the top of the page. We will meet in the "Main Chat" area after 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome, of course! Please put this event on your calendars. Come out and meet our wonderful group of moderators, Canadian carseat technicians, and advocates. I look forward to seeing you all!

If the event is a success, we can discuss a permanent meeting time that evening.

Only senior community members and carseat.org sponsors/benefactors have access to chat. From what I understand, if you can see the senior community member forum, you can see chat. :)

Right, but I thought it might be open to more since it is posted in the main CDN/International forum inviting everyone to come meet the mods, techs and advocates :confused:

We have a week until the 18th, maybe what people could do, is post if they want to come but don't normally have access to chat... Maybe there's a way to have access to a separate private chat room that we could send the link or post the link for? I'm not sure how the forum software sets up chat and what the access rules are, but if there's a way to create a separate room just for that time period?

I just went to carseat.org from another browser that I'm not logged in on and there's nothing anywhere about chats that I could see. I know when I'm signed in there's a place for scheduled chats, but I'm not seeing it based on this brief look around I just did.

Guests definitely don't have access--I hadn't realized some users didn't. We'll just see what Darren says about opening it up for the event--hopefully it's just a configuration setting. I really would like everyone to be able to get together for the chat.

Just a quick reminder before the weekend starts and we all get caught up in upcoming festivities...

We WILL be having a Canadian forum focussed chat session, on the above mentioned time, and Darren has been kind enough to agree to open things up for our Canadian members to come and chat.

I will reply to this thread as an additional reminder on Monday and Tuesday.

The requirements for the chat room will be significantly lowered. Anyone that doesn't meet the lowered requirements will have a way to get access through Nicole (QuassEE) and other moderators.

6:30pm Pacific. However, I DO realize that we're talking 9:30pm EST there... The reduction in access requirements will be done earlier in the day, so if people begin gathering prior to the 6:30 Pacific start time, have at it! I just cannot guarantee I'll be there :)

We had 12 people in our little Canadian chat room for most of the evening, and it was a really fun conversation! Hopefully everyone is interested in more chats in the future...?

If it's something people would like to see regularly, perhaps we could pick a recurring time like the 3rd Thursday of every month or something similar.
