OK, so I sold my RA on Craigslist and this woman seems super nice. She called to make an appointment to have it installed by a local tech, but couldn't get one until December 27th. She asked me if I would help her install it and I said that since I was NOT a tech, I wasn't comfortable with it, but that I would show her the manual and sort of direct her on installing it.

She has a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee and says she does not have LATCH, so it would need to be installed with the seatbelt. I have installed the RA in my brother's 97 Blazer about 10 times since they move it back and forth between their two cars and can never get it installed tight enough.

My question is - does anyone know if there is a place to RF tether the seat in this type of car?

ETA - can someone move this into the installation forum - sorry!

I had a 1996 Grand Cherokee and it was the easiest car ever to install seats in. It has lightweight locking latchplates which are a snap to install seats with. As far as RF tethering, use the D-ring, or, what I did was take the plastic seat track cover off. It's held in place with one screw. Pop that off, and there is a great place in the seat track to attach the tether directly to.

:yeahthat:

Odds are she thinks her seatbelt is supposed to lock at teh retractor when in fact she has locking latchplates. the best way to tighten them is to pull the shoulder belt webbing parallel to the lap belt webbing and then flip the buckle 180* and rebuckle if it slips.

Thanks! I'm not comfortable installing the seat for her, but I will "tell" her how to do it. There's no liability there, right?

No, that would be fine, and if you're not a tech you're covered by the good sam, right?
