View Full Version : BLVD in captain's chair of an '05 Ody
I just received my new BLVD yesterday and I've got it installed rf-ing in the middle row captain's chair in my Ody using LATCH (and the tether). But I have a question about the install. The space between the LATCH anchors is narrower than the base of the BLVD, so when I pull it tight, one of the LATCH connectors is slightly under the base. It seems to be a rock solid install, but I'm not sure whether it's unsafe to have the connector under the base. I also had to use 3 noodles stuck together in order to get the right angle. And I had a question about that install as well. You know how when you put 3 together, it makes a triangle? Well, when I've used the noodles in the past, I've always put them in with the one noodle going into the seat bite, but when I tried it that way w/the BLVD, it didn't make any difference at all...it just smashed it down to where the base was touching the seat again anyway and the angle wasn't right. So I turned the noodles around so that the 2 together were placed at the seat bite and the one noodle was facing in toward the BLVD. I'm not sure if that's ok or not, but it put the seat at the right angle and it still seems very solid. Thanks in advance for any help with these questions!

Ann, it shouldn't be necessary to use the pool noodles to get the correct angle. Is the Boulevard in the reclined position? Put it in without the noodles, then, before you tighten the lower anchor belts, pull the connecter out from under the base up on top.
Once you tighten, if the install is too upright (which is actually pretty unlikely), you can adjust the angle somewhat using the rearfacing tether.

It's ok if the connector is a little under the base, no worries there.
(and right, no noodles needed in that car )
I tried it w/o the noodles first and couldn't get a good angle, but I'll try it again. And before I tighten the Latch, I do pull the connectors out, but in tightening, they still go back under (well at least one of them does, and then it kind of makes the seat lean to one side). I tried to get them to both be under the same amount, but I never could get it quite right...one was always more under than the other and therefore held the seat up more on that side and made it tilted a little bit.

Did you grab that handle in the base of the BV to put it into the recline position? (and, that sticker on the side that says 'get this level to ground') is really a maximum recline amount, an older kiddo can be more upright, the line doesn't have to be level to the ground.
(and just musing, LATCH is always a standard 11 inches apart, I wish carseats could be designed to fit better with those bars...)
Yeah, it's in the fully reclined position. My baby is 3 months old, does she still need to be at the 45 degree angle?
And as a side note, I wish the carseat companies would get together with the car manufacturers and figure all this stuff out to get us carseats that fit cars (you'd think that if the standard was 11", that the carseat makers would make their bases fit that)!
