I am saying I am not going to do it but lets get real; I am going to preorder it. Maybe not this month but I will eventually.

I need to find a new hobby.

That's a bit more than they said at first, isn't it? Still, not a bad price. I love the Monet but the only child I would possibly need another seat for is a boy so I don't think that would work  !

Ok, am I the only one that thinks its weird that its not on their site yet:confused: And I work like 10 minutes away from their headquaters so I'm wondering they have sales like evenflo does, which I'm only like half an hour away from them too:D

Why, oh why, is it too much to ask for a cute BOY cover??????? I mean how about the obligatory neutral grey and beige, a cute girl, and a cute boy cover?

Instead, I had a boring navy snugride, a boring grey truimph, a boring denim husky, and a boring grey radian.

I want a cool seat!!!!!!

Do we know the actual width of this seat yet? I can't remember if the specs were posted yet. I really like the look of this seat and if it will fit, I might do these instead of the Radians. Or I might have to do a few of these and a few of those!!

You do have to admit the sporty blue is at least a nice bright blue. A little better than plain grey and tan.

I like the looks of it! I really like the Monet!

I'm sure this has already been discussed. . .but anyone know the height of the top slots?

I'll need another seat to replace DD's Scenera when she outgrows it soon and don't want to spend a ton of money.

I wonder if the tether strap is attached to the removable headrest thingy or to the main shell? I would assume it's the main shell, but that's seems odd, too.

I would guess it's attached to the main shell. It doesn't seem to weird to me because the Radian's tether is lower down on the seat as well and it works nicely.

I think the top slots were rumored to be right around the same height as the Marathon... but with it's low profile base, it may be a case like the Radian where it provides more growing room. All total speculation on my part... I'll wait for Arly's report. :D

Dumbest pattern name ever for a boring gray seat.

I REALLY like the Monet cover, but probably wont be able to get it, dh wants neutral ones that will be practial to use for boys if we ever have one. I like the capucinno too though, so maybe I'll get that one. I've never had a girly cover though, and I REALLY like the Monet a lot, its a very soft nice pattern, not all foofy and bright!

Does it look like it might be hard to access the adjuster when it is rear facing? It looks sort of low to me. It might sit ok though I guess depending on how it sits when it is reclines.

crunchierthanthou
11-28-2007, 01:59 AM
It's all relative. I don't think it's any farther down than a Britax; there's just not much of a base below it.

Also, they have the Sporty (which I keep reading as Spotty) $10 less at $179 and the Casino's estimated ship date isn't until March-

Thanks heaps :)
Should be some good competition here next year with 2 new seats
1 rf to 55lb and can be used ff to 55lb
1 that ff to 65lb and can also be used rf

I'm going to love this battle....
I am waiting for prices on the second of them so I can compare...
Oh and one will be sold in store, the other through a retailer run from home/appointment..... sits and waits...

Is it just me or do the harness straps look kinda skinny, with a small buckle? I'm used to the MA and the Triumph, which both have fat straps and big buckles. The seat looks great though! I can't wait to see it IRL. I love Monet, but I'll prob have to buy boring Casino so ds can use it later if it really does have more growing room than the MA. It would be his sister's first, who is close to outgrowing her Triumph.

It kinda looks that way to me, too.

However, the chest clips look exactly the same and the straps going through it don't look any narrower. So I don't know if it's a smaller version of the chest clip or just an optical illusion.

Oh! I like! I hope it gets good review when it comes out. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a new hwh seat for our new baby. We will have to get something my short list includes the MA or BLVD, Radian if it fits in my van, and the ETA. Well, probably not the ETA because Evenflo ticks me off, but if they fix the short tether issue I may reconsider.

No, I am too. I'm pretty adamant that my kids' seats have RF tethers. But I still think it's an interesting seat. For FF use, it seems like a good choice. I love that it's baseless like the Radian.

Holly
11-28-2007, 06:58 PM
If I get it, I'll be using it for me dd when I turn her around, so the no rf tether thing doesnt bother me much. I dont really know how I feel about rf tethering though, I have my radian tethered but only because it can be, I havent really thought about why to do it or why its necessary. Maybe someone can explain more about it?

CDNTech
11-28-2007, 07:32 PM
I hate that they don't have a RFing tether. I know that I probably wouldn't buy it for that reason alone.

If it's cheap enough though, it could make a really nice spare, in a pinch seat.

bobandjess99

I guess I'm the odd girl out, lol, I don't care that it doesn't RF tether...but then again, I have never owned a seat that COULD RF tether anyway(mostly just Britax seats and a few other select ones, right?) plus, with what I have seen in terms of studies, research and evidence for RF tethering, I am just not convinced...FF tethering, sure! but I still think there is enough doubt for RF tethering such that it is definitely NOT a "dealbreaker" for me in terms of getting a seat.

I am hoping this seat has true 18 inch high top slots and no serious flaws, if so, it will definitely be DD's and the new baby's seat.

Britax and Radian are the only seats right now that RF tether :). I like it, but don't have to have it.

So am I the only one turned off by the lack of RF tether?

It kinda bothers me. Having DD's MA with RF tether for so long now, if I *didn't* have a RF tether, I'd kinda feel like I forgot to put underwear on or something :p. We did have to make compromise and get the FPSVD for G-ma's car. I guess I'm OK with it since it's a very part part time seat for her (I know that doesn't mean she'll never be in an accident in it). Compass has thier reasons - I was recently given a report on "The Effects of Tethering Rear-Facing Child Restraint Systems on ATD Responses" by a Compass engineer. Has anyone else seen this report? It doesn't have a date on it. I haven't had time to sit and read it yet - there's a lot of termilology that I'm not familiar with yet. Maybe I could scan it for y'all to read and enjoy too...it's only 15 pages long.

I want to know where Compass' new infant seat is. I haven't heard or seen anything about it since the initial report by Murphydog(?).

I wonder if it has built in lock offs. I need a spare seat for dh's car and refuse to use a locking clip, so it's either a MA or a True Fit, the lock offs will be the deal breaker for me. OTOH, I'm not eager to be a guinea pig for a new seat again, either. The whole Como thing was a bigger headache than it was worth.

You took the words right out of my mouth.......but I just can't resist because what if it is what I am looking for

I absolutly refused to try the EFTA and only did so when I had no other options and it fits her the best so I am going to try it out and if it is a piece of junk, oh well. If you want, you can wait on me to test it, you know how nit picky I am.

SafetyBeltSafeUSA's Technical Encyclopedia has great info on rear-facing tethering: http://carseat.org/Technical/tech_update.htm#toptetherRF

For me, not having a rear-facing tether is a disappointment, but not a dealbreaker. A rear-facing tether is a nice feature, but I don't feel an untethered rear-facing seat is less safe.
