When bucking the male portion into the female, can it go it "backwards"? I have 2 female parts right next to each other--one for outboard belt, one for center belt(all lap-shoulder). Can the center belt buckle into the outboard spot if it clicks in there and holds? Reason I ask it that it is just far enough away that it makes it easier for DS1 to buckle in when using his backless in a 3 across scenario.
TIA!

if there is no obvious keying of the latch plates (male part) to make them incompatible with the outboard and center female stalks, and both female stalks bolt to the same anchor on the car's frame (center + outboard often do) then i don't see why not. if the vehicle mfr felt it would be a safety risk, they would key the center and outboard buckles to be incompatible. on the other hand, if the locations of the center and outboard female stalk anchors are several inches apart, i would probably opt not to swap them, as the overall geometry of the three points will be different... probably not a big deal, but still...
FYIW, the center seatbelt in my car is in fact keyed differently and will NOT buckle into either outboard stalks, and vice versa. :twocents:

Thanks! They are right next to each other, but it;s just a bit easier for him to buckle that way. There's nothing in the manual against it, so...

We've done it accidentally a whole bunch of times in mom's S80... if it's that easy to do accidentally, I have to agree with SPBoston, it just can't be 'wrong'.... ;)
