Does anyone have a recommendation for and infant-to-toddler car seat for a Jeep Wangler. I currently have a 1999 Wranger and and a Britax car seat, which is too large and does not fit properly in the back. I fear this is compromising the seat's safety. I am taking it in to be checked but wanted to find out if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Which Britax seat? I've managed to fit both my Wizard & Husky in '98 Wrangler....

It's called the Marathon. The problem exists in the rear facing position. I have to slide my passenger seat all the way forward to get the proper angle. The dimentions are the same as the Wizard. Have you encountered any problems such as this?

Oh, well, yeah I did move the passenger seat forward, but it just didn't bother me much to sit there because I'm only 5'4" :p
However, the back seat didn't have a split, so I imagine it could be installed in the middle RF without compromising the front passenger & driver since my mom's Chevy Tracker feels at least as small as the Wrangler & I managed to get the Wizard RF in the middle there so that my 5'10" dad had plenty of room for his legs {he has arthritis & likes to sprawl out, too}. Unless of course you tried the rear-center position?
The Marathon really is a great convertable seat & when you child needs to FF it's one of the best out there! =) Maybe the Roundabout (http://www.britaxusa.com/products.cfm?action=ShowProduct&pro_id=6DF8B039-B6D7-4461-A597367E0C5B9295) would work better RF, though ~ it's smaller, but has the same 33 pound RF limit as the Marathon....

Do you guys know anything about the safety of car seats in Jeep Wranglers? We have a 1998. My concern is that the back seat is only inches below the window, so the baby is totally exposed to the window with no side protection.
Currently we have a Graco Snugride in our Subaru sedan, but would like to be able to take the baby in the Wrangler as well--either put the Snugride in it for now, or buy our Britax convertible seat now and use it.
Thanks

Hello Everyone!
I just found this site and this question.
I am also concerned with the safety of a booster seat in a Wrangler with the top off.
Are there shoulder harnesses since the seats are so low?
I've got a 3 yr old in PA and Daddy has been taking him out cruising and when I realized how high he sits as compared to the sides of the vehicle (and that he's like Houdini when it comes to getting out of a car seat) I got a bit scared.
Thank you for any advice.

What are the PA & CJ seats? I'm not puting the acronyms together
Has anyone found any data on the safety of children riding in the back seat of a wrangler? Top down or up....

Is someone using a booster for a 3 year old??? If so, a 5-point seat is definitely much safer - especially in a vehicle with a high role over risk & no top  www.ezonpro.com has the Kid-Y with RideRyte that will most likely be the easiest & least expensive safer option to last quite a while if kiddo rarely rides in this vehicle. http://www.carseatdata.org/selectseat.asp might offer some advice on what other seats fit well in any vehicle....
