US Airways/carseat questions

Anyone flown US Airways? Do you HAVE to use your carseat FFing. It's most likely going to be a Scenera that will be used. My friend is flying from Boston (Logan) to Cancun and she's worried about their information on their site. I know some people have mentioned there is ambiguous info out there so any help would be appreciated.

Well US Airways is the airline we had our fiasco on and they said they have changed their manuals to say follow manufacturer guidelines but who knows. We were treated so poorly I wouldn't be surprised if the child is over 20# that it has to go ffing, you should be ok if the child is under 1 as well. I would suggest the parent point out the height restrictions on the Scenera if the child is under 34" here is our story

Good luck and FWIW the most important thing is the child is restrained so it's not the end of the world if he/she has to be ff assuming he/she isn't 3months old :)

I have replied to this same topic a few different time. My DH is a pilot with US Airways, he has been with them (well the AWA side) for 22+ years. He HATES the airline, hehe. But seniority in this business is EVERYTHING. Anyway, I am a former AWA flight attendant. Haven't worked in 10 years, but we had an issue with traveling in 2002, with DS#1 RF in his seat. Long story short, the FA (flight attendant) insisted we turn his RA FF, first reason was comfort of the guy sitting in front of DS, like I care about his comfort over my son's safety. When DH showed his ID and went to chat with the Captain, who is ultimately in charge of everything on the plane, the FA's manual was researched and it contradicts itself in 2 places in the manual. First saying that the seats need to be FF at 20 lbs., and 1 year, then saying to follow the carseat installation guidelines.
From my training, we were NEVER taught a thing about installing carseats, other than they need to go in the window, or can go in another seating position, if all passengers in the row are from the same family.
I am not positive what their manuals reflect now, but I would say that there is somewhere in there telling the FAs, ultimately who you will get grief from, if they want to give you grief, to follow the carseats guidelines for installation.
I know in another thread someone said something about not being able to use a carseat for a child over 40 lbs., and I know that is false. I just flew with my 4yo, on US Airways, FF in his MA 2 weeks ago. No issues at all.
