View Full Version : Sigh. Dealing with Graco

My SS1 cover is stinky. It makes my car smell like onion rings (it's the Roxy pattern). So I called Graco and they said they would send me a new pad. I assumed it would be a different pattern since I've heard this particular pattern has a reputation for being stinky. Nope, they sent me the same one, and it stinks to high heaven as well.

I just called and she was very nice, saying she's sorry they sent me the same one and they shouldn't have done that, that she'll send me out a new pattern right away. I asked if I could get a pattern that matched my stroller (the Quinn pattern) and she told me that was only part of a travel system. I told her I bought it separately, and she kept telling me that wasn't possible. But I did! At Baby Depot! She asked for the serial number, but our stroller has been through hell and back and the sticker was scratched off long ago. So since I couldn't prove I have that stroller, she's sending me a cover that doesn't even match the color of the shell (Renaissance...it's blue and white plaid). I know that part is my fault though...I should take better care of our strollers!

I should be grateful to be getting a replacement and not complain over something as benign as the pattern of my car seat...but I did pay for it and I want it to be cute! I wish I could find replacements on Ebay like the Britax seats. I could sell the replacements they've sent me to pay for one I like. :(

I hope you can get your cover issues fixed soon. Hopefully the new cover works okay with your stroller.

Did you register your stroller when you bought it? They should have some record if you registered it. If you still have the registration information somewhere (like with your manual), it might have the numbers on that paper.

Unfortunately I didn't. That's how I know this whole thing is mostly my fault, as I should have been better prepared.

I bought the stroller on clearance at Baby Depot, it was the floor model.

I'm thinking maybe I'll just sell the covers they send me on Ebay and use the money to just purchase one from their website. :)

I'm so glad you posted about this. We too have a Roxy SS1, and I've been looking all over my van for months to find what food item is rotting and creating a stink, and finding nothing! I never even thought about the seat. Is it really the cover? Did Graco give you hard time about replacing it?

That is weird, I never hear of a cover smelling bad, strange.

Good luck! Hopefully you will get it figured out.

Yep it was the cover. It smelled especially bad when it got hot, and here in Arizona that was a constant!

They gave me no problems whatsoever about replacing the cover. Just give them a call, tell them your cover smells like onions (at least that's what mine smells like) and they'll send you a replacement. It'll probably be that Reniassance cover though since it sounded like those were the spares they had laying around.

Has Graco investigated the stinky cover problem?

Check this out - there are more stories like this out there.
