question about tethering

i bought the evenflo triumph advance last week. I installed w/ a lap shoulder belt (FF) and got a very awesome install. Went to hook the tether, didnt reach. :mad: was about 1/2 inch too short. i yanked and yanked, just couldnt get it to fit. Sooo, just to see, i unhooked the seat, and hooked the tether first, then installed the seat. Got a rock solid install, but this is my question. While the back is very tight against the seat back, the bottom base part is not back against the seat like it was without the tether, there is a gap between the base and the back of the seat. I cant do it this way can i, does the tether have to be installed after the seat is installed? i feel pretty good with the install i got after i tethered first, it is ROCK solid and def not loose at ALL, doesnt budge. But it does install in a diff position then if i dont tether. i really wish i would have tried this seat in my van before i bought it :whistle:

i will have to play with it, but if i recline it all the way, it would sit pretty much like this anyway wouldnt it? (with the back against the seat, but the base not as far back)

oh and also, just to clarify, the TA does not come UP off the seat at all, the base is tight enough it squishes the seat under it.

Really the main rule for a good install is that the base of the carseat is 80% on the vehicle seat cushion...if ALL of your base is on the seat cushion and the install is tight, I'd say you're fine.
DO call Evenflo with your complaint...I think they are going to be working something out for a longer tether solution, but the more consumers that call them, hopefully the faster they'll move :thumbsup:
