I just read on another post that you cannot tether a rear-facing britax to the same seat it is installed. Why is that? Our rear-facing britax is tethered to a non-movable bar on the underside of the captain's seat is installed on. Thank you.

I'm not sure. Britax used to allow it, but they changed that. I'm sure they tested it and it didn't meet their guidelines in some way.

The pp is correct. It's a somewhat recent change. I think it has something to do with the angle. The tether point needs to be toward the front of the vehicle so that the tether angles forward. It shouldn't go under the seat or even straight down (\ rather than / or |).

What vehicle do you have? Maybe we can help you find a tether point.

Read your manual to see if it says you can't. Britax at one point had said it wasn't ok (at some product update conferences), but they have not disallowed it in the manuals. I still use the same seat if it goes relatively straight down and doesn't interfere or rub on sharp or moving parts.

My manual does not disallow this, and for right now, it is still tethered underneath the seat my britax is installed on. I may switch it next time I have to take my seat out.

And page 34 of the LATCH manual says it's been tested and does just fine :)
