i installed the scenera in dh's car yesterday. how does it look? i used latch in the center, less than one inch movement. i couldve gotten it a little tighter, but being 34 weeks pg... i kinda ran out of steam.

this pic i am worried about how much it pushes into the drivers and passenger seats.

close up of latch. there is a seperate center latch set of anchors.

i can move the seat into the outboard behind the passenger if its too close to the front seats... (it's an 06 impala btw)

It's way over-reclined.
That black foot at the front of the seat goes on the seat bottom, not the seatback. You might need a rolled towel or a noodle to get the recline right.

Yeah, a rolled towel can/should be under the front foot (or fat pool noodle, or foam carseat leveler...most expensive, but often best solution). The Line on the sticker is close to straight, but it's a tad overreclined...so if you have a noodle under the foot you'll be able to push down on the foot and have it all solid AND properly reclined (ie, a tich more upright than you have it now).
www.carseatsite.com (http://www.carseatsite.com) has hints about using noodles and towels and how to install things. How lucky you can use the LATCH in the center in that car! And, as baby's neck gets stronger, you can install it more upright, that sticker with the line is just really the 'maximum for a newborn' scenario.

i'm confused... the tech i took my car to had it in with no noodles and the front "foot" on the seatback. ('02 elantra)
about the full 45 degree, it is for a newborn, as i am still pg. i am expecting a large child, as i am huge and dd was 9 lbs, so i moved the harness straps into the second set.. not sure if that is about right for a newborn, i had to kinda guesstimate, dont want dh to have to uninstall the seat at the hospital, cause i wont be able to help him put it back in right (c-section expected)
any tips on how to judge what set to put the straps in?? maybe measuring a baby outfit?
is it ok to have the seat touch the drivers seat like that? dh is very tall and i cant have him move the seat up any... or am i better off putting the seat behind the passenger? i am short enough to move that seat up and still be comfy.
well at least the booster for dd fits next to it lol. got that one down!

It is definitely over-reclined and I think if you fix that it won't push into the seat-backs as much. In terms of whether or not Cosco allows the Scenera to touch the seat-backs, I need to check...(it should be in the manual though)
In terms of harness height selection...
As long as the seat is rear-facing the harness height should be relatively easy to adjust as it's accessible at the back of the car seat. All you would need to do is push down that tab at the crotch area of the seat and loosen the straps...this will allow you to access the splitter plate in the back of the seat.
Just remember, when rear-facing, the straps need to be directly AT or BELOW baby's shoulders.
HTH!

ooh! I almost forgot! Check the manual for your car, but you might not be able to use LATCH in the center, only in one of the rear outboard seating positions (i.e. behind the driver or behind the passenger). I'm not sure though. Based on the little LATCH logo, though, I'm thinking you might be able to use LATCH in the center....do double check though.

ooh! I almost forgot! Check the manual for your car, but I'm 95% sure you can't use LATCH in the center, only in one of the rear outboard seating positions (i.e. behind the driver or behind the passenger). If you want to install it in the centerr you would need to use the seatbelt.
Actually, in her Impala, center LATCH is okay. The center seat has its own anchors.

Haha, you just caught me. While you were responding, I edited my post because I just noticed that ;)

about how far over-reclined do you think it is? just a tad? or tons? if i go by the line, it is not very far off... i can get it more upright without noodles, b/c when i was puttin it in, my mom said it was too upright (waayyyy to upright) and i was still able to get a good install like i would need for an older baby/toddler.
i think thats it... lol. i will post more pics when i re-install it. i am still going to go get it checked local tho, but i want to know i am doing it right. i think after seeing some crash test footage i have become a little obsessive... lol.
i really appreciate all the help... i had noo idea about all this stuff when dd was little. i think i turned her around right at 1 yr old.. i know better now, thank god nothing ever happened.
