Ok, we got a different vehicle, and we need to switch car seats over. The "new" to us vehicle is an older vehicle, and it does not have locking seat belts. So I was reading the manual to see how to install it. I want to be sure I have the info right so our littlest is safe.

From the car seat manual, I understand it to say if you use with non locking seatbelts, WITHOUT the base, you would use a locking clip.

Then if you use the car seat WITH base, you would just use the lock off things that are on the base to secure it? Is this correct?

The manual mentioned the non locking seat belts when it talked about using it without the base, but then didn't mention them when they talked about using the base, just that if you use the base, you must use the lock off things that are on the base.

Please help me confirm that I'm right :) and not wrong  !!

Thanks, Sara

I think it actually depends on whether you're using it with a lap/shoulder belt or a lap only belt.

For the lap/shoulder belt with sliding latchplates, you are absolutely correct.

For lap only belt (if it is truly non-locking) you will need a belt shortening clip. You will also need a BSC with a lap shoulder belt where the latchplate is sewn to both the lap and shoulder portions of the seatbelt.

:yeahthat:

It depends on the type of seatbelt (lap belt only or l/s belt) & the latch plate.
