Hi - Grandma just had her Scenera installed by a tech who is recommending we get a pool noodle (currently using a rolled towel).

We live in Ohio - where could we find pool noodles at this time of year?

I haven't seen any locally in about a month (UT).

Instead of searching all over town, you can use dedicated products made of the same material-

or

Generally I prefer pool noodles for flexibility (1-3 sections, depending on your vehicle) and price (can't beat the dollar store), but it might not be worth your time and gas to look for them this time of year.

if all else fails you could surely find them at a pool supply store, you know the place that sells chemicals ect for pool maint. most of those places usually carry them.

Try also putting a wanted listing on your local craigslist :)

I just saw this one at TRU yesterday - $4.99. I've never needed more than one so this would be reasonable, also the color is less "flashy" than a pool noodle! ;)

Was there a reason why the tech was recommending a noodle over a towel? They can certainly be easier to work with, but a towel is just as safe for adjusting the recline as a pool noodle.

You're probably best to get one of the car seat leveller noodles if that's the route you're going. I know around here that pool noodles can be found about 5 mos of the year and after that you're out of luck until next season.

I personally prefer to use noodles because the towels compress pretty badly.

Burlington Coat Factory has a noodle just for car seats

I had to find one for a class in October too, in San Diego where you can swim year round. Took me three different stores but I found the last solid 6"er. Too bad it's neon orange :D

I've had good luck with the triangular leveling wedge from BRU. You can cut them in half to use for two seats, they're pretty wide.

He suggested the noddle because of compression concerns.

Thanks for all the help - we went with the Toys R Us black one rather than hunting all around for one.

If there is a "Five Below" anywhere nearby they had pool noodles for a dollar

Unfortunately the dollar store type pool noodles aren't very good for this application. They're not sturdy enough and tend to compress as much as (if not more) than some towels.
