I am currently trying to install the base for my car seat in the driver rear seat of my 2000 Honda Accord. The problem I am having is that no matter, how tight I get it (whether it be with the base or the car seat by itself), it still will flip up easily when I pull up on the end of it. My other son's Britax is in the middle position. There is a good sized gap underneath the end of the car seat facing the seat. Any ideas?

For the infant seat, it is completely normal for the base to flip towards the back of the car's seat (if you pull up where the head would be). You check for tightness where the seatbelt goes through the base (it should move less than an inch).

I'm not sure that I follow what the problem is with the Britax seat. Is it forward facing or rear facing?

There is no problem with the Britax. I was just noting it for the sake of illustrating the problem.

It's really OK for the base to flip up easily when I pull up near the head? I mean it will flip up until it is flush with the seat and I just cannot see how this is ok. Maybe I'm just being a paranoid parent.

If you can post with pictures that would be helpful to fully assess your situation. When checking for tightness, you don't want the base to move more than 1 inch side to side or back to front AT THE BELTPATH (< the area where your seatbelt or lower LATCH tether is routed). Movement when picking up the side opposite the beltpath is perfectly normal and will allow the seat to move with the child on rebound in the event of a frontal accident.
