Just Bought a Radian 80 need help!

Hi,

I just bought a Radian 80 for my 5 year old son. He is 44" and 53 lbs. Should I be installing the seat using the vehicle's seatbelts and not the LATCH? I called the manufacturer today and the answer given was - "I am supposed to tell you that you have to use the seat belts because the vehicle can only support 48 pounds using the LATCH". I heard a "but" in his voice. (We have an 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan). Should I consider using both the LATCH and the seatbelts? I just have no idea and I want to do the right thing.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

You must choose one: LATCH or seatbelt. In your case, Dodge only allows LATCH to be used until the child weighs 48 lbs, so you can only use the seatbelt. If your child were lighter, you could use whichever gave you the better installation, but you would still use only one or the other.
