I have a friend in playgroup that is planning to use LATCH with her sons Graco booster seat. I have explained to her that it isn't safe and the it needs to move some. Her fear is it will become a projectile which I can understand. Is there a specific place I can show her on line that explains why it isn't safe? Graco told her is was fine to use it when she ordered a retrofit kit but honestly I don't think they understood what she was asking.
She has contacted the state highway patrol but not the local safe kids. The state highway patrol is not returning her calls either way.

Some Graco and Century combination models do allow the use of LATCH when used as a booster.
In general, using LATCH with a combination booster does not usually have any positive or negative effect on safety. Many manufacturers require to owner to remove the LATCH hardware only because they designed the booster at the maximum allowed weight according to federal standards. They then had to require removal of the hardware or they would be exceeding that limit by a small amount.
We always recommend the parent follow the instructions in the manual. While there may not be a safety issue with this in most cases, it is always possible the manufacturer has identified some safety risk during crash testing.

Thanks Darren!
We read through her manual and it had nothing in there. Good to know.
I did give her the link to the latch info page. Thanks again!
