Maya Wrap had one incident of a ring breaking on one of their newer slings (post Dec. 2006), and is investigating. They are being totally up front about this, testing to see if this is a fluke or a flaw and if it is a flaw, which slings might need to be replaced.

Here's the link to their page about this (http://www.mayawrap.com/ring.php) (expecting an update tomorrow), so that anyone with a Maya Wrap ring sling can keep an eye on it.

Bump. They're still investigating a few lots to make sure they don't need to issue a recall.

I love mine, too. I actually need to replace it, because I can't find it, and baby is due next month.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like a huge issue (one incident, which they're taking very seriously), but I thought those who might be affected should know to keep an eye on the page.

Oh it's just they don't sell them here, I bought it when I was overseas so I'm just hoping that it's ok :)

I'm SO glad to hear that they're taking it seriously.

When the ring on my JOLLY JUMPER sling broke, the company totally blew me off about it - refused to take a return from me (I had to take it back to the store I'd bought it from 1 day prior to the breakage). I FUMED about it for a long time, and sent many letter off that went 100% unheeded, unreturned, unreplied to.
