Okay, I'm about fed up with this thing. I love the seat, I really do. But the RF install with both LATCH and seatbelt are less than perfect and it's bugging the crap out of me.

I can get it tight, rock-solid, shake my minivan when I try to move the seat, tight. But then it loosens. The RF lockoffs don't seem to hold the belt after an hour or so. That's making me :mad:And even when the LATCH install is super-tight, there is still a small amount of slack in the LATCH belt after I tighten it as best I can. I am actually sitting in the seat while I'm pulling on the LATCH straps (sometimes being petite has it's advantages), and it gets tight, but I'm thinking that tiny bit of slack is what's causing the seat to loosen over a short period of time. I tried a fat pool noodle (I'm going to buy a skinny one and cut it tomorrow, see if making a pyramid helps), because even reclined, the seat fits very "sloped" on the seat, if that makes any sense at all.

I tried reclining the vehicle seat, installing the Como and then putting the seat back up- it helps, but after an hour or so, I can pull the seat side to side.

What the he$$ am I doing wrong? I can get a rock solid install that lasts with my BV and MA in the same position in about 45 seconds. Please tell me what else I can try!!!

Yes. The trick is to buy a Signo. :love:

Maybe try rubber shelf liner? That base is so slick!

How frustrating! We are doing a lap/shoulder belt RF, and I rock the seat on the side closest to the female end of the belt (so more of my weight is distributed on that side), have DH pull the lap portion of the belt tight, and then shift my weight so that it is evenly distributed, and have him keep pulling the belt tight...does this make any sense at all?!?! :o We've been using it for about ten days, and haven't had problems with it coming loose. I don't really understand their lockoffs; I can't tell that they really hold the belt very securely. So we basically tighten the belt as much as possible, and just slide it in the lockoffs. Oh, and we have a thin towel underneath, as DD likes to climb into the seat herself, and I like to keep her dirty shoes off my seats.

maybe they make the base slick on purpose? i.e., so that you don't get any false sense of a tight installation because of a grippy base? it seems that all the recaros have the smooth base, including the RYS. seems to me that adding shelf liner would just give you that false sense of a tight install that violates the rule about using anything underneath the seat: "it may make you think you have a tight install when in fact you don't".

Well, maybe...but then again, why does Britax send out non-slip-grip tape for the bottom of the Regent?

i guess it brings up that whole debate, huh? ;)

Eyyyyyup. Which is why I stand by my original recommendation: Get a Signo.

:D:rolleyes::love:

FWIW, of course I don't think shelf liner is a really great answer, but if the belt is super tight, and the seat DID install tightly to begin with, then where's the seat gonna go, really?

Thanks everyone. I finally got an acceptable install that hasn't shifted in 24 hours or so. I'm going to try the shelf liner and see if I can get a better fit, though. It's acceptable, but there is a faint amount of wiggle, not exactly side-to-side movement at the belt path, but I like a seat that you can shake the whole van with ;)
