I hope this is the right forum to post this in! My DD is 16 months, just 20lbs and almost 32". She has been in her SafeSeat since birth. She is still on the middle slots for the shoulder harness and her head is about 1" from the top (or a bit more). I know our time is running out in this great seat but I'm wondering about the height limit and the fact that we're still using the middle slots!

Thanks for your help!

Lisa =)

The height limit is a guideline really because they have to put something there.

As long as she has at least 1 inch of HARD shell over her head she fits by height. The weight limit is absolute though so when she reaches that she needs a new seat.

Once she's outgrown the SS1 then you can switch to a convertible seat and continue to rearface her until she outgrows the limits of those seats.

She's at the age where her torso is going to stall for a bit... My dd was still in her SS1 last month, right at about 1.5 inches to the top...I bet she's still there, now, if I hadn't sold the seat http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/LeahInCarseats/photo#5101172519647707202 If I put her seat super duper upright, she was below the top slots, but when she was pretty reclined she was even with the top slots, so I used the top slots for a couple months.
Obviously it won't fit forever, but I think you have some time to shop around for her next seat :) (Marathon/Signo/Triumph Advance/Radian are all much taller for longer rearfacing, and have huge front facing limits)
