01 MDX vs. 04 Pilot

Since neither the 01 MDX nor the 04 Pilot have side curtain airbags, is one safer than the other? Are they essentially the same car? Are they both based on the Odyssey? Are they structurally equally as safe?

While not identical, I suspect they are close enough that there probably isn't a significant difference. Though they do share a common platform, that doesn't always result in similar crashworthiness. In this case, however, the three (MDX, Pilot, Odyssey) have all done well in crash testing.

As long as the passengers are properly restrained, I would feel very safe in either vehicle.
