Radian & LATCH (x-posted)

I put this on the main board, but thought maybe I should check here too.

We recently re-aquired a Radian and I managed to get a great install in the centre using LATCH in our '06 Ford Focus Wagon (the car's manual does allow for centre LATCH.)

My question is regarding the weight limit of LATCH. I thought I had read that LATCH has a max weight limit of 48lbs (lower in some cars) and you should follow your equipment manuals. Neither the Radian manual or my car's manual say anything about maximum weight. Can I really continue using LATCH until my child is 65lbs?

It won't be found in either of your manuals that I know of.

The limit for Ford is 48lbs on the lower anchors.

The top tether anchor limit is 60lbs.

When your child hits 48lbs, stop using the lower anchors and install with a seatbelt. Always attach the top tether strap as well.

Once 48lbs is reached, install the seat with a seat-belt. Make sure you always use the top tether strap . . . it is required in Canada.
