I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4 door pickup and we just purchased and installed a Costco Alpha Omega Elite seat rear facing for our 21lb 7month old. My husband installed it tightly and the back of the seat will move 3-4 inches side to side. Is this normal? There is little to no movement in the front where it is attached to the LATCH system.

Also, if there is an accident the seat can rebound quite a bit (back of the seat moving toward the back window). Is it safe to use the back tether and attach it to the seat hinge to keep the seat from rebounding?

Thanks,
Linda

Your install sound fine. It is normal for a non-tethered rfing seat to move at the top of the seat.

A few things about your seat you should know.

1. you can not tether this seat rfing. It is not designed to work that way.

2. Once you get to the point that you are using it ffing, please note that the top head rest position is for booster use only. Do not use the top head rest position with the harness.

3. You have a big kid on your hands. Chances are he will hit the 40lb weight limit on the harness way before he is old enough to be in a booster ( 4-5 yrs). Higher weight harnesses tend to be a little expensive, so I just wanted to give you fair warning.

4. Make sure to take advantage of the great 35lb rfing weight limit. The best thing about this seat is that you can keep kids in it rfing way past 1 yr old.

Good Luck,

Kimberly
