My new van (2001 Chevy Venture) has a retracting lap belt in the 2nd row center seating position. Is there a trick to getting the belt tight? I have DD2's Marathon installed RF right now, and I did get it tight, but I'm not sure if I did it "right". I ended up kneeling in the seat, and rocking it back and forth while feeding the belt back into the retractor bit by bit. Is there an easier/better way?

Get it as tight as you can with normal pressure, unfasten it, let it retract another click or two an then really kneel on it to get it buckled (you may need a second person to help buckle it). That should get it pretty tight without having to hop up and down.

:yeahthat: But, I *only* do that if I can't get a good install by kneeling in the seat and rocking/bouncing while pulling all the slack out of the belt.

Cool, I will try that! The kneeling & rocking got it tight, with just a smidgen of movement, but of course I'm striving for that rocking-the-car-tight install ;)

It will tighten another click over time all by itself, I have that same kind of belt in my Suburban 2nd row.
