Hello Everyone,

I'm looking at purchasing a small GMC Sonoma. It has a small cab with only the 2 fold down seats on both sides of the cab. Is it legal, or even possible to place car seats in small cabs like this? I'll almost never have my children in this vehicle but on the rare occasion it would be good 2 know.

I'm going to be looking at this car tomorrow. Quick feedback would be AWSOME!

Thanks

If the seats face sideways, towards the middle of the car, then no, it's absolutely impossible to install a carseat in them (and extremely dangerous for anyone to ride in them, they meet no safety standards). If they face the front of the vehicle, then probably it's ok, but hard to find seats that fit sometimes. I wouldn't even consider it unless there's lap and shoulderbelts and proper tall head restraints for any passenger who may ride there.

If you are talking about getting a carseat in the rear cab portion of an extended cab, it is not going to fit. I drove my Dad's truck (a Toyota Tacoma which is bigger than a Sonoma) back to them one time when they left it in Austin. DH and I first tried getting a Marathon FF back there and it wouldn't even slip down in to that area due to the size. So we tried the some what smaller Scenara and it too wouldn't fit. Ended up having DS in the front in the Ma with the airbag off which still left me very nervous on the 6 hour drive.
