purchasing Carseats NIB on Ebay???

okay... obviously, I want the best price I can get... but I'm wondering if there is something I need to look out for when considering buying a NIB carseat from ebay?? I don't want to get something that IS TOO good to be true! Safety first, price second.. ya know??

I'm seeing the graco safeseat1 there and the price is great... even includes the base, which I was going to wait to get until later... I've found a couple there NIB...

anything that I should be concerned about??

THe main concern you will want to look for.....Is the seller and authorized dealer? If they are not this can void the warranty on the seat. ;)

If you're seeing the Safeseat for a good price on there, it's more than likely someone who is a Target clearance shopper. The Safeseat's were just clearanced out, I believe they got as low as $30-40.

In fact, a lot of the NIB seats on Ebay right now are probably Target seats.

okay! I'll only buy from authorized dealers.. and YUP.. many of these are the target patterns... pierson.. et cetera...

Also you want to ask them what the Date of Manufacture is.

I just so happened to be on the Britax site looking for help on my Regent (how much of the bottom of the Regent needs to be on the van seat?) so I looked up the warranties as I remembered reading them last year when I was shopping for our Britaxes -- I'll quote this paragraph below. I have tried to hightlight the part about the on line auction sites...

AUTHORIZED RETAILERS Please visit your nearest authorized Britax retailer or authorized online retailer to purchase your Britax child restraint. A list of Britax authorized retailers can be found on our website. Not all restraints are available at all retailers. Britax products purchased from unauthorized retailers, online auction sites, or as second hand items, are not covered under warranty. Proof of purchase may be required. While the warranty may not be honored, replacement parts can be purchased.
