Hi, All.
We just recently raised the straps on our SS1 to the highest notch because they seemed to be digging into our daughter's neck, leaving red marks. Then I read on one of these boards that when the seat is RF, the straps should be LOWER than her shoulders. Can someone please confirm the correct place the shoulder straps should fall on this? I want her to be safe and comfortable.

DD is 7 months old, maybe 27" tall and 18 lbs.
Thanks!
Shana

Yes, they should be at or below the shoulders to hold her down in the seat in a frontal crash. When she turns front facing, it changes to at or above her shoulders.

YOu can pull her shirt up between her neck and the straps to provide a bit of protection from the chafing.

For a RF carseat like your Safe Seat the straps do indeed need to be at or below the shoulders. You don't need the harness to be so tight that it leaves red welts on the skin. As long as you can't pinch any slack in the harness up by the shoulder (from top to bottom not side to side) then it is tight enough.

Just to be clear, the SS1 is a rear-facing only seat, and cannot be turned forward-facing.

Definitely below her shoulders, since that is a rear-facing seat.
