Hello,
I'm new to this whole thing...so forgive me if the format is not right! My husband and I have a 1950 Olds Rocket 88. There are no seatbelts in this car. We were going to a car show and wanted to take our 1 1/2 year old son. I knew our neighbor was also going, but his car only has front seats. It is a 2000 something Ford Thunderbird. He turned the airbag off, and we installed the car seat. When my mother in law found out about this she was very upset. She said it's illegal to have a child in a front seat. Does anyone know the answer to this. We live in Michigan. I went to the state police web page and tried to find the answer but didn't see it there. I know I can also call the local police station, but I wondered if anyone else had this problem. I appreciate all the advice and tips I can get! Thanks in advance.

I've put my DS RFing in a front seat with no airbag for a short trip, when we had no other option, how far is the drive? I don't think it's illegal (at least in Alberta) as I've seen people with trucks and no backseat driving with a carseat in the front.
Maybe someone else can help better.

Yes it is legal if there is no backseat.
