View Full Version : Has anybody called to see how many Britax chest clips one person can order at a time?

Seriously! That $8 shipping for one $3.00 chest clip is ridiculous! I didn't pay much more than that for shipping for new harness straps and a new cover! If anyones tries it, I'll buy a couple from you!

by playing around with their website, it looks like you can order up to 8 chest clips with an $8.50 shipping charge. Any more than that and the shipping bumps up to $10

I'm be up for getting one as well, maybe 2...
supercrunch

So if 8 people order, and split the shipping 8 ways, it will be $4.06 per chest clip...then actual shipping from the orderer to each person (probably around $1 each)
I would be in for at least 2, possibly 3
Anyone want to organize this?
I would, but I don't have my paypal account hooked up to my bank account (so I still have sending and receiving limits)

Sooooo, I wonder how many you can get for $10 shipping? :D ;)
Wow, I just tried it. It went up to 25 before changing to $15!
Think someone could sell that many for $5 each including shipping?
Sure beats $11!

I'm in for 2, and would be willing to be the buy through person, provided their shipping is fairly quick (we're moving in a month) and people are willing to prepay for their order to my paypal.
If you can get up to 25 for $10 shipping, that's only $.40 shipping, each, plus actual cost to ship to the ultimate owners. Someone help me on this one. I'm guessing they should be able to ship for around $1.00 a piece? So, if we get 25 orders, the "purchase price" would be $3.50 (added .10 for processing :)) plus like $1.00 shipping for 1, and like $.50 for each additional.
Would they be okay to just wrap in some packing foam stuff and put in a regular or business envelope and mail that way? Or is there a better/but still cheap way to do it?
Why don't we start an actual count of who wants how many? Cut and paste and add your numbers:
Number of clips: user name: total count:
2 rearfacingadvocate 2 (add your #)

has anyone bothered to call IMMI or recaro to ask their prices and shipping charges? they use the identical clip as the britax.

I guess it would seem strange if you didn't know what we are talking about! The Radian started out with a Britax like chest clip and then changed to one that many of us don't like as well. Russ, a CS rep at Radian's company said it was OK to use a Britax clip (Actually he said "diff clip").

I'm placing an order for chest clips today, but I already need 4, and with my upcoming move, I don't have time to wait and/or ship a whole bunch out.
Sorry.

Okay, I contacted REcaro's cust service and here's what they said:
"I can’t guarantee that the chest clip is the same as the Britax chest clip. The clip itself would be $2.50 per clip plus shipping which would probably be about $25.0 - $5.00 depending on where it is going."
So, no gaurentees they are the exact same. But it's a pre-crash conditioner anyway, right? They are cheaper, and I'm guessing she meant $.25-$5.00, or maybe $2.50. I did ask about a group order, but she didn't answer that. However, even if you went for just 2, it would likely be around $10 total, instead of $14 through Britax. Plus, I'd rather mine doesn't say "britax" on it.
Also, it hit me last night, that we're actually moving in only 2 1/2 weeks (time got away), so I can't be the order through. We're moving to Alaska for three months, so I refuse to ship in and out of there.

Are we still trying to get this sort of count done even though rearfacingadvocate is no longer able to do the buying and re-shipping? I would be in for 2 clips for my Radians... DS has only complained a little bit, but it looks far from comfortable and his neck gets red. :(

well they're not the same, *technically*. it has "recaro" embossed on it instead of "britax". but the specialty baby store we go to a lot carries both britax and recaro, and i've compared them. they're obviously made from the same molds, save for the embossing. same is true with the LATCH connectors, exactly the same (also IMMI). they have the same patent number embossed on them, so they're the same. but the britax LATCH connector says britax, and the recaro one says nothing. it's also the same with the buckle tongues.

I checked my Fisher Price chest clips and they are also exactly the same as my Marathon clip! I decided I "needed" a taupe harness strap for my FP seat that now wears an Erin cover so I figured, what the heck and went ahead and ordered 3 FP clips ($3 each), the FP harness strap ($12) and 3 sets of FP harness covers ($1 for each strap cover - $6). One clip will go to the Radian I already have, one will be for the Radian I plan to get later (maybe the Princess) and one spare. Shipping for all that was $10, still overpriced but better than $8 for ONE clip!

eta: mommycat and I are in Canada. If whoever ends up doing this doesn't want to ship to Canada, I'd be willing to do it for the Canadian's as long as you have paypal. :) Shipping should be cheap and easy though - 1 will for sure just go in a letter size envelope and can be mailed like a letter.

We have 6 for Canada already, does the Britax site quote shipping? I'm thinking we might be better doing seperate CDN and US ones? These are small enough that they won't be expensive to ship within Canada.
I'm going to check into this and call tomorrow to find out if need be. Shauburg and I are both in the same city too, so that would make shipping even easier. :)
eta: I was looking on the site and it's showing $8.50 for 6 chest clips. But it's also saying UPS ground shipping. If it is actually UPS that they'd ship through, then it's not any cheaper or easier for us to have a separate CDN order because UPS charges a $30 brokerage fee whether there are customs to pay or not. USPS on the other hand, comes through Canada Post and most of the time they don't charge. If they do, it's a $5 fee plus GST. When I've had warranty replacement parts sent they've shipped USPS, so here's hoping that's how they'd ship chest clips too. If so, and the $8.50 shipping is accurate, then it would work out to be $26.50 US dollars, so estimate $30 CDN and that's about $5 per chest clip plus shipping to you which should be $1.10 at most.
So I'll call tomorrow and we can go from there.

I agree, no UPS. My DH orders a lot of stuff from the US and has us boycotting them for their shady brokerage fee practices!
Thanks for looking into this for us Canadians!

The person who orders the clips will give us her email address. That's all you need to make a payment to her from your PayPal account. Log into PayPal, go to "send money" and type in the email address and the amount of the payment. It will automatically go to her PayPal account as long as you've typed the email correctly (and as long as the email account *has* a PayPal account-- in this case we know she does).
Oops-- I just realized that these are directions for those who have PayPal set up to withdraw from the bank. Credit card payments may be different; maybe someone else could add basic directions for that?

So I talked to Britax just over half an hour ago, and the $8.50 shipping that shows on their web would apply for 8 chest clips and they are shipped USPS to Canada.
Chaotic Octopus - I am willing to order for you and anyone else in the US, but I suspect the savings in shipping would diminish. It's probably better if someone else in the US can take on ordering for you guys. Like I said - I'm willing, I know that shipping would be just shy of $2 to send to you though.
The grand total for 8 chest clips would be $32.50 shipped to Canada, and conversion would make it around 35 or 36? (Being generous with the conversion, ;) ) So I'm thinking we'd be looking at about $4.50 cdn per clip to have them sent to me, and then the cost of shipping from me to you. In Canada that cost should be $1.10 at most for up to 2 clips, and possibly only 0.53 cents. I know one clip for sure could mail for 0.53.
So, where does everyone want to go from here? Maybe post back on this thread, or PM me with how many you want and if you're in Canada or not? If you're not in Canada, just know that it'll cost more for shipping - but you won't get charged customs or duty or anything on something so cheap. ;)
I wouldn't order until I had received paypal from those wanting clips, but hopefully it wouldn't take too long to organize this.

Ok, I'm going to PM the people on this thread who've expressed interest, both within Canada and the US, and see who's still interested. I'll leave it up to those who are in the US to decide individually if it's worth it for me to ship the clips to them, or if they'd rather organize it amongst themselves.

if it would be less than $7 to order with the american group, including shipping to me I can do that.
