I did a seat check for a mom this morning who drives a 2000 Mazda MPV. Her vehicle manual indicates that there are pre-installed weld nuts for having tether anchors installed and to take it to the dealership.
Can somebody look up in the LATCH manual and see if the dealerships are providing one or any of these for free?
Also, she's considering getting a marathon because she's not happy with the 3-in-1 just purchased, and I was trying to help her find a suitable place to put the d-ring.
Anyone have experience locating a spot to put the D-ring on a mazda MPV? I didn't see any obvious ones, and since we didn't need one today, I thought I'd ask for future reference.
TIA.

No idea about a good RF tethering point in the MPV, but I can gladly help with the LATCH manual lookup. :) For the 2000 MPV, the LATCH manual lists part number LCY2-57-77X for the second row outboard seating positions (same part number for U.S. and Canada). There are two weld nuts on the floor behind the second row, with no weld nuts or top tether anchor retrofit parts available for the third row. Prices for the tether anchor kit range from $11 to $35. The LATCH manual also states that all vehicles sold in Canada beginning in 1989 have weld nuts and anchor points and came with a tether anchor kit in the glove box, so perhaps she already has one that came with the vehicle?

I am hoping this is ok because if its not, I dont have anywhere else to tether it!
Its attached to a metal rod on the driver's seat which is attached to the leg of the actual seat.

I know exactly where you mean on the seat as I looked at it. Officially, Britax doesn't want you tethering to a part of another vehicle seat. In absence of a suitable place to tether, it's ok to tether to the seat in front provided that that seat is never going to be adjusted forwards or backwards on the track.
I actually discussed that possibility with the mom, but I'm hoping maybe there's somewhere I was missing that would be a more suitable location.
Thanks for the pictures. :D
