If you found a Regent Shannon... what's your highest price you would pay?
What's the lowest you would expect to pay?

At this point in the game? I wouldn't. I LOVE that pattern but I wouldn't buy another Regent. BEFORE this mess? I would have paid $300 for the seat. As much as I adore that pattern, it IS just a pretty cover.

That being said, I WOULD buy a Shannon cover if it were available. I still have the one Regent and would LOVE to have a Shannon cover for it.

ETA: I would pay $120 max for the cover alone. I mean shipping and all- $120 max.

For the seat itself, or for just the cover?

Just the cover.

I say $100. I'd love to go higher, because I am IN LOVE with the Shannon cover, but realistically I don't think I can talk Mark into being okay with spending more than $100 for just a cover. :p

:yeahthat: It would be fun to have matching Shannon covers in my van, provided I can make the Regent work with whatever new installation instructions are deemed appropriate for a 40 + lb. child, sigh.

Yeah, the whole installation thing. Bah!
Lucky for me, I have peanut babies, so we still have a ways to go to hit 40 pounds for DD1, let alone the other two, who are even tinier peanuts.
So, I continue my search...

I'm going to plead the fifth on this one. :o We all know how much I did pay. I'm not saying what my high bid on that auction actually was!!

Please Roxie... tell us! Well, tell me. It might make me feel better. I have the opportunity to get one (after JUST buying a brand new Madison Regent, ha), and I don't know what number is justifiable.

I'd probably pay $300 if the seat was included. 150 for just the cover. How did you find one? Be careful you don't get scammed. ;)

TOTAL luck! I came across one on my local craigslist. After exchanging a few emails, turns out this lady and her husband BOTH work/ed for Britax. Her husband still works there. She's selling like 5 different covers for different seats.
ETA: And see now I have a problem... I need to get my hands on a couple of Boulevard Shannon covers, lol. I think I'll put the Madison/Ashley/Olivia combo in DH's car, and the Shannons in mine? I don't know - decisions!!!

If its the craigslist add I just read with the price in it. i would for sure buy it for that!. Isn't that what a new cover costs anyways from britax? Oh it is so pretty what a find. You could always buy it then put it on ebay

On a thought...

Is it okay to put a Boulevard cover on Marathon base? Aren't they the same frame?

I actually asked her about that, lol! Her hubby is a tech with Britax. All she said is she's waiting for him to bring home the kit tonight and she's gonna let me know how it goes. :)

Don't post anymore info about where you found it until you have the cover in hand! A lot of non members lurk on these forums and I would hate for you to miss out in such a beautiful cover!

Thanks Mama!
We've already arranged the financial transaction, so I'm not too worried. And it's not my place to hand out her info. I imagine she'd be bombarded with requests.
I think she's sold all of the covers she had anyway. :p

The Shannon BV cover can't go on a Marathon - there is a big hole in the back of the main cover. :(

That's why I had to buy a BV. :o

OK, this is a scam. She got me a while ago. Same email. Craigslist in San Diego. I paypaled 89+ dollars. No cover. That was awhile ago.:(
If my dh finds out he'll kill me but, I don't want it to happen to anyone else so, I'll risk him reading this.
Sorry honey. :(

Oh no!!! Did you get your money back? Was it for the same cover? I was wondering because the photo included in the craigslist ad I found for it was the same photo used on the auction for mine.

You can get your money back through paypal can't you?? If you file a dispute?

keri1292
07-09-2007, 09:17 PM
Well, after she got an angry email she sent me a tracking number...also fake. But, I gave her the benefit of the doubt because I want it sooo badly.
Tomorrow, I'll contact paypal and see what can be done. I give up on the pretty cover. And I don;t want anyone else to get ripped off. :(
Yep, same cover. It was her "last one". Yeah, right.
ETA: I paid on June 4th. Sent angry email and received tracking # on June 22nd. Still waiting. Ugh! And I probably won't get my $$$ back since it wasn't an auction, right?

Yeah you should still be able to get your money back even though it wasn't an auction. Paypal nearly always sides with the buyer. Hopefully she hasn't closed the paypal account, though. :(

Was it a hotmail e-mail address in the auction? If so, I think I found it and she spammed all over craigslist with that ad - philadelphia, charlotte, etc. I can't believe there are people like that out there!!

THe auction on my cover ended on the 5th - so she must have stolen the picture from the ebay auction while it was still running.

She probably just searched ebay for the hot sellers and is making a killing on us car seat crazed folks. My dh is gonna kill me. :crying:
Anyone ever file a paypal dispute? I have 5 days to cancel. Do I HAVE to wait 5 days before they proceed or am I missing something?

Jeanum

It's not cool that someone is apparently trying to rip people off, and attempting to do so in multiple locations. :( Surely this would warrant an investigation beyond disputing with Paypal, like filing a police report and notifying craigslist?

I would guess that she saw what Roxie paid for the cover and saw that others where willing to pay a nice lump of change for it and saw it as a great way to earn some extrs $$$.

OP, are you willing to share the buyers info that you received for payment like the email addy if you paid via PP?

becca011906

PP will try to take your $$ back out of her account after 5 days but they can't take it out of a PP account that is already transfered the $$ into a bank account or on to a cc or whatever... and i don't think pp can take it out of the bank accounts or CC with out the sellers permission... :( hopefully she left $$ in the account then you can get it back i think... i got scamed once on MDC....

They can take it back even if they have transfered the money somewhere else. It will leave their PP account with a negative balance that they must correct before using the account again. Happened to a friend of mine. She was being scammed by the buyer who was saying that she had not received the item. Luckily it was all worked out in my friends favor but it took months to rectify it.

Since I am in Texas I looked around to see if it was posted in any of our larger cities. Sure enough, the same add that keri1292 was posted in Houston.

Ive heard of people paying for the shipping of a non existant item using paypal's shipping just so they can have proof that it was shipped even though they never even bother to ship anything!
this way she at least holds on to $70+ in profit... ugh!

How does that work if UPS doesn't have any info, other than that they were billed but, pkg was never checked in? So, this proves that she didn't ship it, right?

So, yeah... totally bummed, but SO SO SO grateful someone (keri) told me about this!!! All the same info and all the same stories.
How sad that someone is doing this, huh. I'm not out any money at all, thankfully, but I know lots of people probably are. :( She said she doesn't have PayPal (how convenient for her, right), and would only take a MO. I was NOT okay with that (hello, just like sending someone cash). The UPS label she printed for me was valid, but that doesn't mean she's actually going to ship it, kwim? I've emailed her several times since yesterday evening and still no response. Still not sure how she got a Britax return shipping label to me... and she knew all about the Regent recall/advisory, too. Ho hum.
I have full intentions of reporting her to every agency that will allow me to.

LEAW

As soon as you file the dispute, if there is any $ in her pp acct. it gets frozen right away, and she can't withdraw it, and if she makes more sales, that $ says frozen as it arrives.

PP doesn't accept "shipping info" as the generated number, they actually wait for the number to show as delivered... if I generate a pp shipping, it gets put in USPS the day I print it, but I can hold the package here for weeks if I wanted.

I had a dispute that required I return the item with tracking, and USPS didn't scan it in when I sent it, but it was scanned when it was delivered, and that was the proof, as soon as they were able to see it had arrived, I got my refund.
