Ok so I'm having issues. When I install the carseat it looks great. It is tight (no movement at the base) and the top tether is taught, but not tight and pulling. It is installed with Latch, in the center (per the car manual) in our 07' chevy crew cab.

But over the course of 2 weeks, the seat has gotten closer and closer to the car's seat, causing the recline to become greater and greater.

(Please excuse the massive amount of junk in the floorboards. He hasn't and won't ride in that car until it is cleaned out)

So how do I keep his seat from scooching back down like that?

I'm not super familiar with the Decathalon. How do you have the LATCH straps? It kind of looks like you have them going through the lock-offs. Are they? If so, redo the installation without putting them through the lockoffs.
Push down hard on the part of the seat that the legs would be (not the butt) while tightening the LATCH straps.

So put them OVER the lock offs?

Yup. If you look at the manual it will show a pic of a RF LATCH install and the LATCH strap is going over the lock-off. Lock-offs are only for seatbelt installs.

When you reinstall do push down on the leg part of the seat so that when it's tight it will be very upright. Then use the top tether to recline it to where you want it.

Let me know if that helps or not.

Huh! Well! I sure did miss that! THANKS! I'll reinstall later and let you know how it works! Thanks!

I'm betting it won't work. I have the same problem in my car (Chevy Cavalier). I install the seats really upright and pull the top tether just tight enough to get the slack out and over time, the seat reclines more, putting slack in the top tether. We then have to tighten the top tether a bit more...then it reclines more over the next few days...it's just a big cycle.

I just check the seats at least once a week and readjust (reinstall) as needed. I don't mind doing it, since I'm a carseat nut and will go reinstall the seats just to be doing it, lol...but I would love to know how to preven it from happening!

Sorry I'm absolutely no help!

It looks to me that the seat is slipping further into the seat bite. In the first picture it looks like the seat base is away from the seat bite, then in the second photo it looks like it is right in it.

Maybe try putting the seat more in the seatbite to begin with when you tighten it up. That might keep it from reclining over time...

Maybe someone else will have some better suggestions.

The only other thing would to use may be some tacky shelf liner to keep it from slipping.

I'd rather use a pool noodle before shelf liner -- just in that area between the base & vehicle seatback, under the carseat's "lip".... Another option would be to simply install it outboard, braced so that maybe the front seatback prevents it from reclining more? I'd probably call Britax for their ideas.
