Ugh!!!!!!

So I went to meet with the State Trooper to make sure I had my daughter's Regent installed correctly today. WHY WHY WHY did he undo the seat belt (I had the long belt path), install it with the short belt path, twist the straps of the seatbelt, and not have the car seat as "flush" with the seat as it could be? He actually pulled it away from the back of the seat it was on. Then he's telling me that I did it wrong and the seat belt is not supposed to show or touch the front of the cover?????
I showed him the manual but he didn't even look at it he looked at the pictures on the side of the seat :rolleyes:

I would uninstall it and put it back to the long belt path. We have found that the Regent installs better using the long belt path. There is usually less movement and the shoulder belt acts like an additional top tether to reduce forward rotation of the seat.

We haven't seen a seat/car combination yet that can't use the long belt path, even when parents say they tired and the seat belt is too short. It is a matter of compressing the seat cushion by putting your weight into the seat and sometimes rocking the seat back and forth to get the buckle to click. However, the rocking isn't usually necessary.

It appears your Trooper was unafamiliar with the Regent and its various install methods. Hopefully he will take a moment to look at the manual in the future.

I would complain to a superior. He told you that you installed it wrong because the seatbelt showed? He's obviously not familiar with the Regent, and when a tech is not familiar with a seat we are ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS supposed to read the manual! :mad:

ITA with Scatterbunny. He obviously didn't listen to the parts (plural) of the curriculum in which it was stressed to READ THE MANUAL.

Good gravy..... yeah, never trust a tech that doesn't read the manual... maybe he's good at snugride installations, but then that's like going to a heart surgeon for brain surgery :D

I drove to the other side of the parking lot and reinstalled it. I actually liked MY install this time (I'm always worried about my installs not being tight enough) and the whole van shook when I tested it out.

It is really upsetting to me since I know he is supposed to be helping but in reality he has no clue.
