A few questions about my dds carseat

I can never seem to get it tight enough. It always wobbles side to side, and then in my FILS truck in the back seat in the middle, it falls forward no matter how tight I make the seatbelt. The middle seat back there is a short seat, but a seat nonetheless. Is it something I am doing wrong?

Also, I have a 92 geo storm 2 door hatchback. The back seats are bucket like seats. Will this seat work back there? I haven't tried it yet cuz the car has not been driven since before she was born 17 months ago.

Should I get a different car seat? She is 17 months old, about 30 lbs, and about 35 inches tall.

I hope this all makes sense lol. I'm in a hurry to type this all up.

I assume you're installing it rear-facing (it's WAY wafer and your child is still within the limits)...

Is it wobbling at the top of the seat or the bottom (by the belt path)? As long as there is less than an inch of movement (forward/back, side to side) at the belt path it is okay. The top of the seat will move.

Can you post a picture of your install? And of the seat in the Geo? That would help.

Are you installing it rear-facing or forward-facing (like previous poster said, rear-facing is so much safer, and that seat can rear-face to 35 pounds)?

Do you have the flip-down foot in the back flipped up (more upright) or do you have it flipped down (more reclined)?

Are you installing with a lap/shoulderbelt or only a lapbelt?

What is the year, make and model of FIL's truck?

What is the year of your Geo?

I have been putting her FF because her legs are soooo long and she screams bloody murder if she can't streach out. But as I have learned so much more about the benefits of RF, I think I may start putting her RF. I have no idea the make model and year of FILs truck. I THINK its a 2006 Ford F250??? No idea.

I have the flip down foot up so the seat is sitting straight up. I tried putting it down to see if the seat would sit better, but it makes no difference in that back seat. The carseat falls forward more than just a couple inches.

When in FILS truck, I use the lap/shoulder belt. That is what the seatbelt is. The belt in the geo is the same. Only it doesnt have a middle seat. Just the two side seats. There is a huge bump in the middle.

I hope this answers all the questions lol. I will post pics ASAP. I might be able to get a camera soon.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. When installing FF is the front foot actually falling off the seat? Because the the vehicle seat isn't very deep?

yeah its like the truck seat isnt long enough..does that make sense? the front "foot" falls off the front of the truck seat..

I'm thinking a different seat, one with a flat base, is needed in this case. Only 80% of the carseat's base must be on the vehicle seat; however, because of the way the Scenera's base is designed, if the front of the base is falling off the vehicle seat the entire seat will tilt forward (as you've found).

However, for now, if you install it rear-facing it should fix the issue. The flip-up/down foot would be up against the carseat for recline, the front of the base will now be in the vehicle seat bight (crease). She can rear-face in the Scenera for another five pounds, as long as her head is contained within the seat shell.

For forward-facing, I'd try a Britax Marathon, Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe (made by Britax, so if a Marathon will fit, so will a FPSVD), or Sunshine Kids Radian, because your dd is big for her age and these harness to a higher weight and has higher top slots.

Hey, Jenny, do the new Signo and Trumph's have solid bases on them? I've never looked at the bottom of the old triumphs. If so, they may be other options.

The base of the new Recaro convertibles LOOK smooth, but it's hard to know. Other Recaro seats are smooth, so that's a good sign.

I have no earthly idea on the Triumph. :o
