Hello,

When I had DS almost 4 years ago, I used a Graco Snugride with Kolcraft Universal Car Carrier. Then later I got Kolcraft's stroller (which I don't like, I wish I had splurged and gotten a Maclaren Triumph / Techno instead). Now I just bought a Maclaren Volo.

Now DH's cousin is about to have a baby, and I am just wondering what stroller would you recommend? The car seat recommendation I got was Chicco Keyfit and Graco Safeseat 1.

TIA.

Stefani.

Do you know her budget? :)

No...my guess would be money is not very tight, but no point in spending too much for it either :) Maybe she'll get one from her baby shower :)

Do you recommend getting something like an UCSC at first or right away go with a stroller that takes a car seat?

I loved my Bugaboo Cameleon, so light and easy maneuverable

It can be used from newborn to 37.5 lbs. It also got adapters for various car seats.

It also got 32 different color combinations! HERE (http://www.bugaboo.com/extra/colorchooser/dealers/cameleon_us.php), mix and match and see for your self.

Bugaboo International (http://www.bugaboo.com/no/en)

It's a bit pricey, or at least where I live, but I think it's worth it.

But since I'm from another country maybe we have different criterias for choosing a stroller :)

I really like the Maclaren Techno XLR.

It is great! It can hold infant carseats (which is a nice feature for some) but is not a cheaply made stroller at all.

Here is a bit about it (from an online blog):
Based on their bestseller, the Techno XT, the Techno XLR offers a higher weight and width accommodation. The XLR is a full-feature stroller that can hold up to 65 pounds of kid- that's 10 pounds more than the Techno XT, and more than any other stroller currently on the market- and is 10% wider than the Techno XT.

This stroller is not meant for your sixth grader, though! Responding to the requests of parents with larger children, Maclaren has met a need that is becoming more prevalent. A recent US government study showed that more than 23% of children ages 2 through 5 are currently overweight, and a recent study published in Pediatrics estimates that more than 280,000 children in the US are too big for the standard car seat.

The Techno XLR can be used from birth, all the way up to when they weigh 65 pounds. It will accommodate major manufacturers' infant car seats with the included adaptor bar. Retailing for $350, the Techno XLR will be available beginning in December 2006.

It comes in lots of colors:

It weighs about 16 pounds
It can hold children up to 65 pounds
It has an extra-wide seat to fit larger children
It has 4 seat positions, including a 165-degree-or-so recline
It can fold with only one hand
It has reflective accents, a carrying handle, an adjustable legrest, suspension in the wheels, a UV-protected sun visor, a reversible seat liner, shoulder pads, and a head roll
It has height-adjustable handles
It is carseat compatible
A matching footmuff is available

I just wanted to add--

Yesterday, I got to use this stroller with a newborn.

WOW. It is a fantastic newborn stroller!! The mother wasn't using the adapter bar at the time, but she said it works well.

The stroller itself is dreamy, though. I loved it!
