The combi I bought last summer is on it's last leg, so it's time to start looking for a new stroller for my 3 year old ds.

I mainly use it for walks around the neighborhood or the mall, and to get my ds inside when he falls asleep in the car. I have had several abdominal surgeries and I am not supposed to lift him :( so when he falls asleep in the car I wake him up enough to talk him into climbing into the stroller so I can get him in the house. He stays in the stroller until he wakes up, so something comfy would be a plus...but he isn't really one to complain ;)

requirements...

must be lightweight...the lighter the better

either no front bar, or one that is easily removed and replaced so he can climb in

must recline at least a little bit

needs a canopy and a basket...although I was fine with the pathetic combi savvy basket

and I can't spend more than $100

any suggestions? :)

I just purchased a Chicco C5 and I LOVE it!!!! It has all the features you require and my DS loves riding in it, it's very comfy.

Here's a pic:

That looks great!

Does it fold up nicely?

ooooooo...but I just noticed that the weight limit is 37 lbs. Hmmmm...I wonder how strict that is. My ds is 30-31 now.

Maybe you could look for a Maclaren Triumph or Quest on Craigslist or Ebay... Albee Baby has their Maclarens on sale right now for a pretty good deal. I was going to recommend the Mac Volo but it isn't padded and doesn't recline. It would be good though, because it is ULTRA lightweight.

All Maclarens have a 55lb limit (AFAIK) Albee lists 40lbs on the triumph, but I checked Maclaren's website and it is 55lbs. Here is a one (yellow) on sale for 109.99

The triumph only weighs 11lbs and reclines. A bit more than you wanted to spend, but you would get it no tax and free shipping...

It folds up like an umbrella stroller. I dn't think the weight limit is that strict. My DS is 32 lbs and my older ds is 36lbs and they both have ridden in it.

The Mac Volo. It doesn't have an actual recline, but the seat is somewhat sling-like. Julie had her's at Lifesavers and Leah slept like a rock in it.

Hi Janet, what about the UPPAbaby G-Lite? It only weighs 8.3lbs., stands when folded, has 40lb. weight limit and is right at 100.00.http://www.uppababy.com/product_0007.php
I just ordered one for myself :p (only thing is they are backordered until July, so don't know how quickly you needed your replacement)

:D

I also have the Chicco C-5 that was mentioned above. It's been the "everyday" stroller for 2 years and has worked great.

Michelle, you'll HAVE to post a review of the G-lite when you get it! I 'need another Volo' and was hoping this might be a fun new substitute :)

I also love my c5! It reclines fairly flat, the back is nice and tall, got a good sized basket, it's pretty light, easy recline, and its definatly comfy! Oh, and chicco customer service is great! I got mine on craigslist and the backrest was bent (didn't realize this till I used it the first time). I emailed them about it and got a new seat for it for free, no questions asked!

Hi Julie,
I will definitely let you know how I like it, I can't wait to get my hands on it.
The g-lite is going to be my first lightweight stroller ever & I am ready for it! After the eddie bauer travel system & the jogger the g-lite is going to be like lifting a feather:p
