Okay, I feel like a goofball for asking this because I pride myself on my abilty to read and follow directions, but...

What is the red retaining strap on top of the doubles kit seat for? The instructions say do not use the baby and toddler buggy without the retaining strap, but what's it supposed to be used for?

Also, one of the hinges that allow the seat to be put in the front (newborn/toddler mode) is so stuck that I can't undo it. DH had to use a screwdriver to push in the button to remove the seat from the hinge (came attached to the seat out of the box) so we could put the seat on the back. Now that I put it in the front, I absolutely can not get the seat out of the hinge. DH even put some WD-40 on it (before I put the hinge on front) and it didn't seem to help much. He was able to use his fingers to push in the button, but he's a lot stronger than I am. Is it normal to be difficult? Will it get better with use? Do I need a new hinge?

While I'm asking questions I guess I have 2 more...
1. Folding the stroller: directions say: Attach frame lock (use longer of two fram lock straps when front wheel attached). Ummm, what's the frame lock and where are the straps?

2. Mystery gromets: on the side of the main frame, above where the bar attaches and below the sun shade snap is a tab of webbing with a gromet on each side. They look important, but I'm just not sure what they are or what they're used for.

Thanks for all your help. I'm loving this stroller, and DD is hooked! She was even laying down in the newborn mode and this is a girl who has NEVER slept in a stroller or liked to be reclined.

I'm guessing you probably have the new sport model... so I won't be able to answer all your questions, but I'll try.

The retaining strap is exactly as it sounds... you put it around your wrist so the buggy can't keep going if you fall/trip ect. Mine is attached to the handle of the buggy itself though, not the toddler seat. ( I also never use it  )

My hinges (the push buttons) are super easy to use... so I suggest you call customer service and complain... you may have gotten a faulty or bent frame.

Not sure about the final two questions... maybe ask customer service when you call to complain about the hinges? Or if you have a picture of the fourth question (mystery grommets) I might be able to answer that one.

I was told the red strap on the doubles seat is for when it is in baby toddler mood you can fold it up and that hooks somewhere.l I have never used it so i cant help. Maybe just play with it some?

No, the red strap isn't for your wrist, that's what the long black strap attached to the handlebar is for! The short red retaining strap is supposed to be attached to the top of the second seat - directions tell you that when you have the seat on the front for baby/toddler mode, you are supposed to clip it around handlebar area - on page 10 in the e3 manual , page 11 of the sport manual.

As for the folding/locking stuff, and the extra gromets on the side, I agree - you must have the sport model, so I have no idea what they are for.

I was guessing the red strap was for hooking around part of the frame. Looks like I was right. I think I will call customer service about the hinges because they're super stiff and all the ones I tried in the store were really easy to use.

I think I figured out the mystery gromets. One is slightly longer than the other so I'm guessing they are the "frame lock straps". Now I just have to figure out where they hook to. I've only folded the stroller a few times just to make sure it worked.

Thanks for your help!!!
