Hello,
I have a Kolcraft and a BRU umbrella stroller. I like the Kolcraft as it has a big basket underneath, but it is hard to push at times, especially DS is now 32 - 33 lbs, 38.5 inches tall.
If I were to splurge and get a new stroller, what would you recommend?
It needs to be light, folds small (so it can go in a subway), and easy to push.
TIA.
Stefani.

the maclaren strollers are wonderful! they are like a luxury umbrella stroller. the volo would be your basic model and comes with a carry strap... I think they all carry in some way, but I know for sure the volo has a carry strap on the frame.

I second a Maclaren. I love my Mac Ryder and it has an easy push with my 50 lbs. 5yo in it.

Thank you for your replies.
For the Volo, what is the maximum weight (of the child)? I saw it as 55 lbs for the 2007 model, but no specification for the 2006 model.
TIA.

It's 55lbs as well. It's the same frame. All of their strollers are fine to 55lbs. The XLR goes to 65lbs, however!

I take maximum weights in stride. The max weight on the platform on my Joovy Caboose is 40 or 45 lbs., my 5yo is 50 lbs and rides all the time. It is all relative. It isn't like carseats weight.

Thanks, Lori. So you are saying that it is OK to exceed its max. weight, correct? I suppose they need to put the max weight to say what it will support, because if it breaks when I sit on it (I certainly weigh more than 50 lbs, LOL) then I cannot say that it is defective.
Thanks.

I need to add a disclaimer that I cannot be responsible for your stroller breaking if your child weighing more than the max weight rides in it. ;) HOWEVER, I think it is there to cover their butt, should something happen, they are not responsible. I know several ladies who own multiple strollers, and they don't stop using them until the kid's feet or dragging the ground or their head hits the canopy. Sure not like max weights in carseats.

He..he...don't worry Lori, I won't hold you responsible! Let's see if we have enough "fun" money at the end of the month, and I'll check out the Volo at BRU.

I have a friend selling a used Volo, PM me if interested. Can get you a great deal on it.

I love my Maclaren Triumph for my DD1 who is about the same age as your child. If you need something more basic, though the Volo is definitely the way to go. :)
I took the Triumph on a train ride and it was great. The carry strap was a lifesaver.

I bought a Maclaren Volo (2006, turquoise) and love it so far (testing it in the house :) ) except for the harness. It is rather stiff and hard to open.
Thank you very much for your recommendations!

I have a 2007 Volo and there are a couple of differences from the older models, mainly the shade is included (you used to have to buy it seperately) and the basket is bigger. As for the weight limit, in my experience, when a child approaches the weight limit of a stroller it merely gets *really* difficult to steer and push, but I've never had one break from it.

I am jealous, LOVE that turquoise color.
I have GOT to get off my orange kick though. Been eyeing an orange P3 AND an orange Volo. I already have the Joovy Caboose in orange. AND I already have a P3, though not in orange.

I like the orange too, but ended up with the basic "carbon" black.
