The new specs and pics are up on the Recaro site!

The list the interior seat width for the Signo & Como of 15" So I doubt it is 16" wide but who knows.... I guess it is possible but probably not probable.
As for height. They list the interior seat back height of the Signo as 25.5-26.6. I went and measured my radian. It came to 24 inches and my husky/regent was 27". The COMO is listed as 25.5.
SO.....It probably has a harness height taller than the Radian but smaller than the Regent. :D

I'm still debating getting these as "extra" seats for my kids when they are in other people's cars. The main reason I would choose the Signo over the Regent is size (I drive a van so it doesn't matter to me but no one else who drives them around has a van).
To me it doesn't seem like those seats can fit an older child comfortably. I'll still probably get them and who knows I might like them more than my Britax LOL

Well, the pictures effectively ruled them out for me. With that belt path, there is no way I could install it in the center of my car. Drats, I was really looking forward to it.

Hi Splash! After all your help, I'm still "getting there" on the carseats! I'm up to 5 (three Blvds and 2 Parkways), but the Regents I ordered for Conrad and Tim are too big! So I'm waiting on the Recaro seats.
Which is why I'm posting to this thread.... I just talked to a guy at recarochildseats and he said he's expecting them NEXT WEEK!!!
Yipee! He said they would be on his site as soon as he has them, and there would be no need to pre-order as he will get a huge supply of them. I'm going to be checking every morning.

I know this is shallow, but I can't help it. I think that the covers are ugly. I would love to see and play with the seat, but I don't think I woud want one, cause they aren't pretty. They remind me of a 3in1 seat by the way they look. COMPLETLEY shallow, I know, but I probably wouldn't have bought one anyway, cause we have the Radian, which works great for us. But maybe they will have cuter covers for baby#2!

So, is the only difference between the two the harness adjuster?
Living in a hot climate, I really like the ventilation slots on the seat...

LOL -- I just called them, poor guys. It is JUST A RUMOUR. They don't have anything for certain yet. I was provided a number and asked to call back next week when they'll know more :)
FWIW, I LOVED calling near my old home. I miss the Eastside :(

that, and the more expensive one will have the LATCH straps attached to metal bars like the MA, instead of being threaded through the belt path.

not a shallow point at all. i'm p*ssed that they don't have a nice red/black signo for my car (the vivo has red/black).

The problem with the middle seatbelt in my car is that the buckle stalks are light years apart.
The first part of the belt comes down from the ceiling, and buckles into stalk a. Then you pull it across the body (or through the belt path) and buckle it into stalk b. The distance between stalk a and stalk b is enormous. When I put a Radian in there, buckled as tight as possible with another tech helping me, there was still about 6 inches of lateral movement because of the distance between the anchors. Even the BV with the lockoff closed and that huge open belt path is still probably too much lateral movement. However, there is NO front to back movement. I've made the choice to take a less than optimal install center versus a perfect install outboard. I'd love a perfect install center, but it's just not happening. And I know it would never happen with the new Recaros if those pictures are true to life.
I'd like to try the new Triumph when it comes out, though. That might work.
I do love the ventilation holes, though. Those would be awesome for Charlie. And if I could get it RF in the center, it would open up a new possibility to RF him in that car. As it is, I think he's going to be turning very soon. :(

The covers are really ugly. I was really looking forward to a nice girly cover and the gray and pink isn't very cute LOL
If I had to choose I'd get the pink/gray for my daughter and the black/tan for my son.
Now I don't know which "extra" seats to get for my 2 little ones :(

DD2 actually expressed interest in the sand one! I wouldn't mind getting that one since it should look nice with our Blue Bouquet regent...I'm just a bit concerned about it staying clean looking. I put our AF cover on the MA a bit ago and it is really looking dingy. I know, I know, it washes out! I just don't want to mess with it.

I think the belt path on the Como (haven't looked at the Signo yet) looks remarkably similar to that on the Britax convertibles, which install well in virtually any vehicle.
As for the covers, I don't think they're "ugly", just rather plain.

Splash,
I don't want to even say this, you are going to HATE me.....
I have installed carseats in 3 cars (Ford Windstar, Expedition, and CRV-no RB) with belts like you described and the best install I got was with a Regent, long belt path with/without recline bar (according to which car).....

Yeah, I know. I know a Regent would probably work. Actually, I think the Regent would be TOO wide to fit between those belt stalks! But I just hate that seat. However... I have been considering it! It's SO hard to put Charlie in the BV, I keep bonking his head! No bonking with Regent, and Britax will give me one for my BV...
I might try it out actually. I have one in the van that I can try. But he's just so little! He'll look like a little lost man! At least in his BV he looks so comfy and cuddled, and I like him sitting up higher. I with the seat could be on a hydraulic lift! I'll buckle him at seat level, and then raise him on a base to see out the window!
I'm glad you know what belt I am talking about. Other people are very confused by my explanation.

I think that it is an awful design. I hate that it "belts" in on both sides. Seems like twice the opportunity to come unlatched....

However, now that my pretty Ashley Floral cover is starting to get really dirty, I'm starting to see the wisdom of plain, dark-colored seats.

Truth be told, I don't have "pretty" seats in my car right now either, and while i would *love* to have the Ashley print, Dh would hate it. I have the granite pattern Ma, and the regular gray pattern Radian, (as seen below) but I don't find either of these seats ugly, but I do think the Recaros are ugly. A red and black one would be cool though, cause then they would look like Recaro's racing seats. Dh would *love* that!

"dont get cute- get recaro" dont forget that is their new tagline, and they were DEAD ON lol!!!
The convertibles are definitely not what I was expecting, hopefully the triumph will be.
I really love the new boosters, am I the only one? lol! I wonder how wide they will be? it says 14" hipsroom, so I suppose it will be 16-18" wide on the outside? thats pretty good

I like the way the new boosters look. I just don't need one for AT LEAST 4 YEARS....
I wanted to get this seat to go in my van as the Regents will need to be in MIL and DHs cars Mon-Fri but I am waiting until someone else gets one to see if it is an actual option for Jackson...
I too am watching to see what the triumph will be like... 50 lbs vs. 70 lbs doens't really matter to me as he has out outgrown every seat by height way before the weight limit...(and this is going to be a pass down spare to little sis anyway)
Its all in the top slots....

Oh come on... release them... between the head wings and the ventilation I can SO justify this for Ali. :)
Have no idea what color, don't care lol. I'm so wanting to get her back in a seat with SIP. I miss those head wings. :)
And maybe by some miracle I will get to pass it down a baby sometime in the next several years before it expires... lol.

I don't think they are ugly, I guess I like more plain looking seats. I don't like the busy prints. We have a Tiffany Parkway, my girls love it, but I find it to be too much. I didn't much care for my Antique Teddy cover on my RA either. I find my Stormy MA boring however, so I guess I don't know what I want.
I like the red/black Vivo too. It looks like it will be about the same size as the Parkway, taller than the YS. I don't feel as if I have to run out and buy a second Parkway before they go away now!
I'm impressed with the features and the price. I don't think I can justify a Signo or Como but I like that the Vivo could be an option for us in the future.

If anyone would like to know ---
Out of curiosity, I just went out and measured my Maxi-cosi seat & base. I'm trying to figure out how the Signo might fit in the Camry since it looks so similiar in style with the MC.
The MC's base's overall width is 14 inches. BUT the front rounds out & ends 12 inches from the vehicle seat edge on each side. There's about a six inch gap between it and the back of the actual vehicle seat. This is what provides enough space for passengers to fiddle & attach seatbelts. Anything more square, I don't think would be as comfortable.
The width of outside of the actual seat is 17 1/2 inches. BUT thanks to that frame, there's a gap between the carseat & the platform where passengers can gain some more space.
One of these days, I'm going to have to disassemble the Radian from dh's car and discover how it fits into the Camry. But I doubt there would be much more space for passengers since it would be completely solid instead of openings like the MC has..
The interior space of the MC is almost 11 inches at the butt area that narrows down to 9 1/2 inches around the Head. So the 15 inch interior for my dd would be considerably wider than what she has now. She still has about 1-2 inches on each side despite how she looks in photos. And she's now at 36.5lbs & a skosh under 41" if that helps anyone out.
I suspect that the Signo/Como is going to look similar in size to the Graco SS2, but on a slightly more compact scale. Ultimately, I'd love to know how high & narrow the base is. I figure when I tighten down the seat, it will compress that platform around an inch into the seat cushion.
anyway, just some harmless musings!
And Amy, from one AF family to another, I definitely don't want to break your heart!

yeah I dont think we will even buy a booster for another 3+ years, but with the parkway being discontinued I think the vivo might be a runner up! I cant wait to see it! I had decided on the parkway for when we did get a booster, but by the time we need it it will already be X old :(
and by the time DS hits 50lbs he should be ok in a booster as a spare, so I think if the triumph stands up to what they say it will be a great spare.

Funny :) After I saw the photo on the original Recaro site, I"m having a hard time deciding between the Rose & the Cobalt. :p I LIKE the Colbalt :D
Everyone has their own tastes :shrug-shoulders:
Southpaw, perhaps the reason why there's no red-black for the signo is something to do with the fabric combination. There's a note on the original website saying that only that color has some sort of mesh involved in the description on the booster.

Spillingthebeans.net has updated prices...
I just got a call from my representative at Recaro. We have pricing and projected availability information for the new seats, as follows:
Vivo, MSRP $99, avaliable in June
Vivo Lite, MSRP $89, available in June
Como, MSRP $249, available in July
Sigmo, MSRP $289, available in August
As always with a new product, the availability dates are very much subject to change. They are checking on the questions about the maximum height of the harness. Have I missed anything?

Okay, so a radian has an external width of 17", with an internal seat width of 10", according to elite carseats. So what would be a guess as to how this might measure, with a 15" internal seat width? I might would change my mind and get this, if it would make 3 across possible in my 3rd row.

And is there any news on release dates for the vivo's? I'm leaning towards those for Mikayla, too. Or for Aaric, and getting Mikayla a new cover for the parkway.
Okay, nevermind, I see that spillingthebeans says June on the Vivo's. I really think that's what I may go with.

I wouldn't think keeping it clean would be a problem. It says they are microfiber, you should be able to wipe it with a babywipe and keep it clean.
I have that center seatbelt issue too. I drive a 2006 Rav4 and the center has a huge belt path. I have a regent and it works great there. I use long path install and can move the whole car without it budging. I am interested in the recaro for SIP, flying and spare seat. Our spare is the apex. If I use it in my car I have to have it outboard because it won't work in center of my car. The regents downside is no one that borrows my seat wants the huge one. This would be nice.
I LOVE the sand color!

Thought I'd discuss what I'm loving about the Vivo's -
*Reinforced with aluminum
*nice wide seat - looks like more seating space than a pw
*i'm thinking the mesh will be good in our "gets super hot in the summer in the back row" minivan.
*FOLDS! (see, I'd wanted the compass but was torn because the pw seems safer... this has the best of both worlds)
*All for just at or just under $100 (89-99).
I think I'm going to see if Aaric likes the Crimson one, though if he likes Carbon or Cobalt, I'd go with either of those, instead (and save $10 lol)
I love the cobalt too! I really liked the pink one...until I saw the cobalt. Blue is my favorite color, maybe that explains something? lol

Not that I care about the seats matching my car (hello, I have a cowmoo) but my van IS blue with a gray interior. So either cobalt or carbon would match wonderfully. Might actually make Aaric feel more grown up if his seats matched our interior.

hmm.... so the prices have gone up, eh? probably recaro realized there was so much demand from this forum ;). on the other hand, it did seem like the original projected prices were on the low end. it seems like now they are poised to compete, dollar-wise and feature-wise, directly with the boulevard (signo) and decathlon (como).
