Aww that was really nice of you taking pictures Lena - thank you! I started this thread almost exactly a year ago I think! Wow how far things have come, I actually have two Swedish seats of my own now though. I love your pictures. Would it be ok if I put them on my website at some point?

What do you think of your car seat? I'm trying to decide what Swedish seat I'll get next.

Hi,

Yes, you can put them on your website. Will you give the link to your site??

It is like the Britax Regent - installing it is difficult the first time. But when you get the hang of it...... piece of cake!

The car is a Peugeot 307SW (minivan). We have plenty of legroom on the front passenger side of the car.

On the day we got the seat. Mathias was in a CRAP mood all the home from Sweden (1― hour drive that felt like 6 hours)

These photos were taken right after we came home:

The Two-Way will probably be a lot cheaper I'd imagine it's so darn plain lol.

Does anyone (Lena?) know how much the Multi-tech is?

I LOVE that green in the seat! And I'd totally import it if it came with the cute baby! ;)

As an aside, the more I've been researching, the more it seems that bracing (i.e. that foot) is really the way to go if you're going to RF tether. Why don't they put on a foot in North America? It seems we're doing is half-bummed here with just the tether portion. The only way we can brace is to rely on the seat in front which might also move forward in an accident and not brace as well as we think. I want a foot!

Well I certainly think it is. I'd love a "foot" though but they're only any good if you have a head on frontal crash with another vehicle, I think.

No idea on the price, I never heard a definate answer back. Lenats, if you see this, how much is the Multi-Tech? I'm not 100% sure if I want the foot, that's what's throwing me. Eh, I figure I got another year before it's vital that I figure something out.

Not Lena (hiya my illegal carseat buddy! ;) ) but,

The Two-way is cheaper than the Multi-tech. It will also last longer. The multi tech's back is maybe a little taller, but you can't use it till the tips of their ears are even with the shell because at that point their shoulders would be squished up under the wings. Thats just the conclusion I've come to anyways. I'm getting a Two-way over the multi tech for that reason :)

The multi-tech is 3500 SEK which is about $583
The Two-way is 2495 SEK so about $415. but I guess the TW is being discontinued, so you can find it on sale (1709 SEK ~$284) is what I was told.

minismom-

A friend of ours is going to Stockhom this week and getting my Two-Way while he's there. I can let you know where he gets it, but I know Babyproffsen has it (www.babyproffsen.se), and Lena got hers at Babyland (www.babyland.se)

LOL! Thats just what someone on the norwegian carseat board told me. I guess a salesperson at the store she got it from had a britax rep tell her it was being discontinued in favor of the multi tech. I'll see what my friend comes back with...I told him to try babyproffsen first because that's where they were supposedly on clearance.

I donīt know which one is better than the other heightwise. The MT has a height adjustable headsupport, which grows above the MT restraint shell. It is completely level with the restraint shell in the lowest slot. The child has outgrown the seat when the tips of the ears are level with the top of the head support in the top slot. The integrated 5-point harness "grows" with the head support. So you will not have to remove the restraint from the car in order to adjust it.

Mathias is 10 months old, his height was meassured to 77 cm at 8 months old. I think he is just over 80 cm now. He is in lowest slot and still as room to grow in that slot.

Price-wise: The Two-Way is cheaper than the MT.

Divide the CM numbers by 2.54, and youīll have his height in inches.

MT head support in the top slot:

Sideview:

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f223/lenats31/Marts2008002-1.jpg

I think, the "downside" of these restraints is that, they are not as easy to move from one car to another as other restraints are. Not even, when you "know" the seats really well.

One more thing to remember is that the These Scandinavian rearfacing restraints MUST NOT rest on the front seat. They CAN touch it, but just barely. The best thing is to install the restraints on a 10 millimeter/1 cm distance from the front seat, which can be done easierly.

These stores sell the Britax seats:

http://www.britax.se/aflista.htm#S

The MT retails for 3500 SEK in Sweden and about 3000-3200 NOK in Norway

Aaaaannnnndddd if any of you THOUGHT you saw a Regent in Madison next to the MT in the photos. WELL, this is what ILUVBABIES means by calling me "illigal car seat buddy" - really cool carseat HE HE! Europe has crappy booster seats. Only ONE has an integrated 5-point harness to 80 lbs/36 kg. Britax Traveller Plus, which is the same seat as the Regent only with a head support pillow and a much much higher retail price.

Mathiasīs MT does not touch the front seat. Still it is rock solid on the rear seat. I canīt move it at all.

The foot prop is an anti-rotation and anti-rebound device. It helps the tether straps prevent an over rotation in a crash - side and frontal crashes and roll-overs.

See, what I'm thinking though is that since the harness slots are level with the bottom of the wings, by the time their ears hit the top of the headrest their shoulders would be squished under the headrest. but we had this discussion already I think :p

I just checked out these two seats on the Swedish Britax website: According to Britax in Sweden, the estimated age limits are:

Two-Way: 9 months to 6 years.
MT: 9 months to 7 years.

The higher age limits are based on estimates ie. the average height of a 6 or 7 year-old child.

My almost 4 year-old dd Sarah is 110 cm already - tall for her age and above average height. She might not have made it to 7 years old in the MT. But 5 or 6 years old maybe.

I donīt know for sure, but I donīt think the head support is going to be a problem with regards to the height limit, since the harness is placed so close to it. I am not sure, but that is what I think.

Is that *every* scandanavian seat? That's really odd because I've never heard that they're not allowed to touch the front seat.

I don't think so. This is straight out of the Two-Way's manual (and it is said a few times)

Warning! Never use Two-Way Plus freestanding, without support of the seat backs.

The multi-tech, however, does have that rule (sort of). From the MT manual..

The child seat can touch the seat in front but must not rest against it.

I have to start trying to figure out which one to get and I'm having trouble figuring out the differences.

Does anyone know of any website that compares all the choices of seats, or have compiled any info on that? In English would be better but I have a friend that can translate if Swedish or Norwegian if needed. I'm looking for age/weight/height limits, foot prop or not, RF only or both, padding, ease of use, ease of install in US car, and just general help deciding which one is best.

Bonnie, which is the seat you have that doesn't have a foot prop? Does it make it easier to install?

Anyone has any advice on where to start??? Thanks a lot!

If you post in English, they will answer you in English! (I have a thread a few pages back on there, I'll dig it up if you want me to)

The two-way doesn't have a foot prop (neither does the brio zento which is the other seat CRS has iirc). I've got the manual for the two way in english, PM me if you want it :). I can let you know in about 2 weeks how easily it installs in US cars (I plan to test it in ours, and all of my friends' who are willing! lol)

there is a link to all the swedish britax seat manuals. That will at least give you age and weight

I have two Swedish seats, the Britax Two Way Elite and the Brio Zento, neither of which have "feet". The Brio Zento is much easier to install then the Britax Two Way Elite IMO. The BTWE must NOT be freestanding (as someone above mentioned) however the Brio Zento is tested and approved to be used freestanding despite the fact it has no "foot". TBH I see people mentioning the problem with vehicles from different countries but IMO this is not a problem at all, vehicle incompatibility is just as likely with any vehicle, despite what country it comes from/is made in. I find my BTWE more of a hassle to fit in a variety of cars - my Brio Zento is much more compatible because of the belt path it uses, and the fact it doesn't require a long seat belt. I find often the issue with my BTWE is either a buckle stalk that is far too long (so limits the use of one of the belt paths, there are several diff belt paths for rear-facing). Or, in some vehicles when I've gone to use the other belt path, the seatbelt hasn't been long enough. Can't win! LOL

Thanks to you both. I will look at those sites iluvbabies suggested and will dig up Bonnie's review of the Brio Zento I remember seeing here somewhere.
This is so exciting!!! Never mind that my dd could still fit RF in a US Britax for a long while, I can't just go to Sweden and come back without a seat, can I? :D

New answer on this from me! lol. My friend got my seat yesterday!. He went to Babyproffsen, but I guess they don't carry carseats in their store, but they have a sublet type store called Baby Planet that has seats. He got my two-way Elite for 2,195 SEK, and I'm getting 280 SEK back with global refund (http://www.globalrefund.com/default.asp?viewFolderId=1312&viewDocumentId=2796). All told it comes out to about $320 :D

I'll ask him when he emails me back. But until then, here's the store list from the britax sweden site! It should take you right to the list of stores in cities that start with 'S', so just scroll down a little to stockholm.

ETA: nevermind, I found the one he went to. Its got a different name than all of the other baby planet stores!
