has anyone else noticed the price jumped $10 for the scenera? i went in to my local walmart to pick one up, only to find it was $49.xx. i figured maybe the $40 price was online only, so i went back home and pulled it up online, and lo and behold... $49.xx online also!!! :( damn, i shouldn't have waited so long!

I haven't noticed that....but I did notice that the Uptown is down from 99.99 to 89.99 at my local Walmart - and that's not a sale price!
That stinks that the great $40 seat is now $50!

Wal-Mart does that. It'll be $39.88 for a while, then it will go back up to $49.88 for a while, then it'll drop again, and then back up. It's insane. if you don't need it right now, keep your eyes open, it'll drop again, probably when BRU sends out their next round of $10 off coupons.

What skaterbabscspt said is true.
It'll go down in a month or two. I don't know WHY walmart does it, but they do.

Definitely check back.
Also, sometimes, they actually tag the seats individually, a sticker on the box. If you are lucky enough to find one that is tagged $39, and it rings up $49, our particularly WM will sell it to you for the lower price, AND give you $10 or something like that, for your inconvenience.
I bought my Scenera like that.
Once, I found an endcap display of highback turbo-boosters. The big sign above it said $2.00. :D :D :D

It is so they can put their "price cut" sign up and make people think they really did lower the price. Meijer does that here too. I really have to watch prices because they go up and down so much. If they really cut prices as often as they say they do, everything would be free by now. It must trick enough people into shopping there however. I've had several people tell me, "I can't afford to shop anywhere other than Wal-Mart." But the truth is Meijer is cheaper in a lot of things, at least at times. When my dd was on Pediasure, Wal-Mart's price for a 6 pack was $2 more  than Meijer. I really need to make a price book comparing each, but then Meijer is closer, usually faster and doesn't have those annoying TVs blaring. I don't shop Wal-Mart often. Also, with them both playing price games, it is hard to keep up.

I dont have a meijer near me and i am not even sure of what that is. I love wal-mart but i like the super center one better and the closest one is 45 mins away. I am used to everything being 20 mins away to get it. I have 4 or 5 baby stores 20 mins from my house. I love it. Driving 45 mins not my idea of fun.

Oh yea, sorry. Meijer is a mid-west thing. It is very much like Super Wal-Mart, groceries, toys, pharmacy, housewares, electronics... I'm not sure which came into being first. We had Meijer first in our area by many years. There are no Meijer stores without groceries, unlike Wal-Mart.
I have Meijer a few blocks away and Wal-Mart less than 3 miles away. Now, baby stores, those are all 40+ minutes away. So are all the Pediatric specialists, ugh, I have driven too many times to count to those places.

The 5-point Scenera is usually $39.xx at the local Target, so I agree with the previous poster about checking out Target's price in your area because it might be lower than WalMart.

Yes, I think Indiana has Meijer. It is a great store. We also live very near Meijer Gardens a botanical and sculpture gardens financed by the man who developed the Meijer store. The Garden's has one of two of the DaVince horses, really COOL!

At my targets (there are 3 within a 15 minute radius) the scenera is $59! It kinda ticks me off since that is the one I will probably end up with cause I like blue. Now to wait until the price goes down.
(My walmarts don't carry the uptown either. Rhode Island/Mass sucks for baby goods! )

What is with all the different prices? It's crazy. When I bought mine a couple of weeks ago, both Walmart and Kmart were $49, but Target was still $39. I actually like the Target one the best. For some strange reason, it just seemed the most plush to me.

i will try target tonight. i will not pay more than $40 for a scenera. granted, it's safe and RFs to 35, but it's pretty bare-bones and flimsy feeling.
i spoke with a mgr at walmart and he said that store prices can vary from region to region to stay "competitive" with other regional brick and mortar stores. also, the internet prices are the same way-- they compete with other online retailers. walmart's (and target's, i guess) websites are not geared to compete with the brick and mortar versions of the same store, but other e-tailers. still, it's kind of infuriating.

I noticed our Target (richmond va) had raised the Scenera price to $48.xx recently. However, it's still $39.89 at target.com:

Haven't been in wal-mart lately.

If anyone lives near a Shopko or Pamida, I have found that they have the best prices on Sceneras AND they often have in-store rebates.
A few weeks ago The seat was on sale for $38 plus a $5 rebate!

damn, i need this by thursday morning, so if it's not in any of my local targets, i'm SOL.
btw-- if you search on target.com, you won't find a scenera... you have to search for scenara... !!! one small typo can really affect search results!

The closest Target to me is $39, some other Targets in the city are $49 and the one closest to my Mom is $59. I just can't figure it out.

Bummer.
My Walmart has the Scenera with OHS side by side with the 5 pt.
I was thrilled to see the OHS was $10-$20 (can't remember) more than the 5pt. I figured people would go 5 pt. because it was cheaper. (Although, people might think more expensive is better. . .)

okay, thanks to honeybee for the target suggestion.
my local target had ONE left (the blue one, ugh) and it was $39.xx. the DOM was 12/06, but that's still okay i guess.
so tomorrow i have to see if i can get a good install. i do have to say, this thing feels *really* flimsy compared with the recaro OR even the triumph! you're all sure this thing was actually crash-tested? lol... ;)

We got ours at Target for $36. I think Target carries the blue and WalMart carries the black? I don't really know. I won't shop at WalMart.
Meijer is like WalMart only cleaner and union.

I'm with you.
I have a $250 Britax Boulevard that I got in December. I just got my $40 Scenera and I keep trying to deny it, but I actually like the Scenera better. It rearfaces longer and has 3 crotch positions!!! Why does my cheapo car seat rearface longer than my expensive one??? And I can't believe that my BLVD doesn't have multiple crotch positions!! It is meant to hold a baby from newborn to a child of 65lbs!!! Every time I put DD in the Britax it is a huge struggle and ordeal because I have to fight to get the straps buckled into the crotch strap because it is underneath her butt. I also have to tighten the Britax BEFORE I buckle her in and then try to fight with her and squeeze her in because its IMPOSSIBLE to tighten it after its buckled (yes, I ratcheted) Whereas I can tighten my Scenera no problem after I buckle her.
Go Figures

so tomorrow i have to see if i can get a good install.
Our Scenera is installed RF in a captain's chair using LATCH. To get a solid install, the CPS Tech used a narrow pool noodle and a piece of rubber grippy material. Also, remember to pull the cover aside and pull the LATCH strap up through the seat to get better leverage in pulling it tight.
I think I sent this link before when you were researching the Scenera, but take a look at the dents it put in the pool noodle! :)

I have to take this seat in and out at least every couple of weeks, and it's a breeze to install/uninstall (once I'd done it a couple of times). And since I have to haul it in the house when I'm not using it, I really appreciate that it's lightweight. The only hard part is pulling the harness adjuster tight when it's RF, but it's worth it!

i managed to get a pretty tight RF install via LATCH. i used your tip trailrunner... pulled through the hole in the shell and got much better leverage (i commented about this with the APEX install i did in MIL's car).
but i did notice that no matter how tight the seat is installed (belt path movement is ZERO), the backrest can "bend" from side to side. i.e., the carseat basically can bend and twist upon itself... not nearly as sturdy as the other carseats i'm used to...

Ok, i know i'm coming into this thread late, but oh well.
I got a scenera for $39.xx at WM last night. It was marked $49.xx on the box and the shelf but it rang up the $39.xx. So maybe they are still "marked down" and just not marked!
