I saw your thread earlier about HFM disease. I'm pretty sure my toddler has it. She has had diarrhea off and on for the past week, and there was a case of rotavirus in her sister's classroom at child care. But I saw a blister on her lip today, and then checked inside her mouth, where I saw a whole bunch of blisters. DH will take her to the doctor tomorrow, but I'm wondering whether this is connected to the diarrhea. Did your doctor say that the Coxsackie virus could cause that too?
(She had a fever briefly about ten days ago, but that seems so long ago to be related to this. But surely the poor thing couldn't have *both* rotavirus *and* HFM. If so, she's being an awfully good sport.)

Oh, I'm so sorry about your daughter... :( But, yes, it does sound like it could be HFM. I think it's the same as the cocksackie (sp?) virus? But she told us diarrhea combined with blisters in the mouth/throat and maybe blisters on the palms of the hands/soles of feet as well (Nolan never had that but he did have the blisters in his mouth). She said that with HFM, the blisters are particularly prone to the inside of the cheeks, I believe. But, there's not much to do about it... :( Just wait it out. Let us know what the doctor says tomorrow. And hope she gets better soon ;)

That's where the worst blisters are--inside of her cheeks. She has barely eaten anything for days, though fortunately, she will still drink some. She's also cutting canines, so I had partly attributed her lack of appetite to that, along with the tummy troubles. But if HFM (which is indeed caused by the Coxsackie virus) can cause the tummy troubles too, it would explain a lot.
Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what the ped says tomorrow.
