Someone on a couple of work-related groups I am on posted looking for suggestions for a child:

Does anyone know of a car seat system out there that supports kids around 55lbs and has straps that would accommodate a Thoraco-Lumbo-Sacral-Orthosis (TSLO) brace to be used during transport. I know there are several car seat systems up to 100 lbs but do you know of one with extended straps to accommodate the size of this brace? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Do any of the special needs techs have any information about a child using this type of brace in a child restraint?

Thanks!

Tina

I would remind the parents that the weight must be of the child WITH the brace on.

I would hesitate to purchase a seat that only holds to 65lbs, but look towards an 80-lb harness.

How old is this child ?

I'm thinking that - of the readily available seats - maybe a Frontier or Regent would be the most likely to fit. I'm not familiar with a lot of the US seats though, there may be others that would fit better.

Yes, age would be helpful. They could try a Frontier, but my guess is that it will feel too narrow for that brace. Best bet would probably be a regent or Traveller Plus (like the Regent, but with a higher weight limit and some positioning pads for children with special needs). Possible the Roosevelt. An EZon vest would also work and might be most comfortable.
